One of Krentz's best novels. Excellent read that keeps you turning pages.
Cleo Robbins runs a small inn, meets Max Fortune, head of the Curzon Hotel chain. He's looking for something he thinks she has; she doesn't (to her knowledge). Opposites attract.
Loved the book, actually I will read anything by this author.

Good book. Well written and easy reading.
Max Fortune arrives at Cleo Robbins' inn on a quest for five priceless paintings left to him in his employer's will. Cleo has never seen the paintings, and as Max continues to stay at Robbins' Nest Inn to search for his inheritance, he becomes part of Cleo's eccentric family and grows increasingly closer to Cleo herself. When Cleo is threatened by a mysterious stalker who objects to an erotic novel she wrote, Max steps in to protect her and to discover who is threatening her life.
Great read. Mystery, romance, and fun.
Enjoyed very much! Good story -- nice blend of mystery, romance, comedy, drama! ((Hugs!))
First off let me say I love Krentz - she is one of my all time favorite writers. Having said that though this is not one of my favorite books. It just didn't grab my attention like some of her others and I struggled to finish it. I would choose most of her other books before recommending this one.
I really enjoyed this book.
I like everything by Krentz
Excellent book
In her first hardcover under her own name (she published Deception under the Amanda Quick name last year), bestselling romancer Krentz spins a glib, breezy tale about dashing art collector Max Fortune and earnest, fey innkeeper Cleopatra Robbins, secret author of an erotic book. Max comes to the Robbins' Nest Inn searching for five valuable paintings his dying employer claimed to have left there for him. Confused and charmed by open, nurturing Cleo, who denies any knowledge of the artworks, Max decides to stay and investigate further. He is soon part of the inn's eccentric family--cooks from a nearby women's commune, a lonely, fatherless little boy, a young couple struggling with an unplanned pregnancy--and he begins to act out with Cleo the fantasies in her book. When someone makes a death threat against the love-smitten innkeeper, Max hires a detective friend to find the culprit. After a dramatic crisis and pursuit of the villain, the expected romance ending arrives. Much of the humor here seems arch or forced, but overall this frothy fare will please Krentz's readers. Literary Guild alternate; Doubleday Book Club main selection.

Cleopatra Robbins has imagined the moment when she'll meet the man of her dreams. But when Max Fortune strides into the Robbins' Nest Inn, a devastating sensation sweeps through her. She knows it's him. And he's all wrong.
Max Fortune, CEO of a giant Arizona hotel chain, comes to the Robbin's Nest Inn looking for five priceless paintings left to him by his mentor, Jason Curzon. Max believes Cleopatra Robbins has these paintings since Jason stayed at her Inn the last years of his life. Cleo is at her wits end. Her inn is book full, her handyman has disappeared, and Cleo needs help. When she offers Max room and board for his help at the Inn, Max decides to stay at the inn in order to find where the paintings are hidden.
This is a fast moving romantic suspense. Max is a bit of a loner and finds himself accepted into the quirky family that runs Cleo's inn. The supporting characters in this book bring the story to life. The suspense is light but well written. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
