I have always enjoyed this series - but have to admit I did not enjoy this one as much. Maybe I was not in the mood to read it? Maybe I am tired of the series? It was written in the same format (silliness) and had recipes in it like they always do.

Magdalena still gets most of her exercise jumping to conclusions, but she's a lot more with-it, and she's still the most competent detective in Hernia, Pennsylvania.
I really like this series, but this book seemed a little silly to me. The story didn't seem to revolve around the murder at all, but more about the new chief of police. The grape recipes didn't appeal to me, either. I am planning on reading the next book, though.

I love this series. The authors quirky style is what does it for me. Magdalena Yoder and the rest of the characters are hilarious! This is a very good cozy series very clean language as well. I would recommend this for any cozy mystery lover. Also includes Amish recipes.

This is a fun book to read a is all of Tamar Myers Penn-Dutch books. Easy to read! I enjoyed it. Bert
I love Tamar Myers' Penn Dutch Mysteries. This one was no exception. Her wacky characters & sense of humor always makes me giggle! My only "complaint" would be the repetion of facts, such as constantly referring to her probiscus as large. I understand that this is for readers of a single book, but I have read other series (such as the Kinsey Milhone series) where mentioning facts that the reader needs to know was done in a more enjoyable manner.
Overall this book & the entire series would rate a 3.5 in my opinion.
