I thought this was a very good continuation of this series about a vampire witch who is a part of a triumvirate of vampires who carry out justice and retribution against lawbreakers to the High King and established vampire law. In this story, the group is sent to deliver justice to a queen who has been accused of murdering some local humans. When the group arrives, they find the situation is not as straightforward as they originally assumed, and that the "guilty party" may not necessarily be guilty of the crimes at all. The group uncovers a mystery that may involve a plot to bring down the vampire King and Queen of the Western Lands. The story includes some likable characters from the first book, and introduces an interesting new cast of characters. It also furthers the love story of Cin and Michael as they try to work through a few tests to their relationship. In this story, we get a better picture of the political and power structure for vampires. I'm sure this will continue to play itself out in future books since a newer, darker power for Cin is revealed, which causes distrust among her fellow vampires, as well as, the High King, himself, where she may be viewed as a threat or rival to his throne.

I really like Cin. I'm sad that there are only 3 (and 3 novellas) books in this series. I will add this- if you read this series- I highly recommend reading the novella in Strange Brew before this one. If you don't, I don't think it spoils anything, but you will understand things a little better. (And I won't get into my rant about novellas either).
I liked the story line. I liked the growth in Cin and Micheal's relationship. Things aren't always perfect and I felt this showcased that well. Crazy queen (or is she?). I picked out the villain early on, but the how is the surprising part.
