For an author that claims that geography is everything, he neglects to get his editors to put a map in the book, so be sure to have a southeastern Louisiana map handy when reading. Intersperses stories of the 5 main governmental "villians" (Bush, Gov. Blanco, FEMA director Mike Brown, Chernoff, Mayor Nagin) with ordinary folk.

Loved this book; one of my favorites in 2011. If you've ever wondered how the recovery efforts got so fouled up after Katrina this book gives great insight. You also will be struck with the magnitude of the suffering left in the aftermath of the storm. I'll never visit New Orleans without thinking about the devastation.
