Sadly, after looking forward to see what SEP had in store for Lucy Jorvik, this book fell flat for me. Lucy didn't have the spirit we saw in The First Lady. I shouldn't have been surprised because the little we saw of her in Call Me Irresistible we didn't see it either.

By the time she became interesting again, it was nearly the end of the book and we didn't see enough of it.

Equally, Panda's story was told in bits and pieces and it took too long to piece them together to figure out he wasn't the jerk (albeit somewhat boring jerk) he appeared to be.

The secondary characters of Bree and Big Mike were much more interesting.

I can only give this one two stars.

This was a wonderful read from the very first sentence to the last. The middle of the book dragged a bit, it should have been edited but overall, a must read.

Not her best simply because it lacked the humor and craziness I have come to love in her characters and dialogue. In fact I think Lucy and Panda (was that as good as she could get to a tough biker name?) didn't interact much at all. I did finish the book but I didn't love it. I think I found the side characters more intriguing.

Until I got into the story, I didnt realize that this story is a continuation of THE FIRST LADY. And that story is a continuation of a series called AMERICANS LADIES. Perhaps I missed some connections because of not reading these in order.

The story line seemed to be rather ho-hum. The escape scene, where Lucy leaves the wedding -- took way too long. Until Lucy meets Panda (?) things move slower than syrup on a cold day. Much of this book takes place within a characters head; while this approach can be very interesting, in this instance, the repetitions grew tiresome.

Learning that Lucy was an adopted daughter of a previous president was interesting; hearing the same info frequently was not. At times, the book seemed to move in slow-motion.

The premise of the story is: Lucy decides that she cannot marry her intended during the wedding march. She knew there was a problem prior to the wedding, yet she waited till the most dramatic moment to humiliate her fiancée. How immature!

The thing that bothered me the most, however, was the fact that a 31 year-old woman reverted to dreadlocks, punk colors and street walker clothes. Did she learn nothing as First Daughter in the White House? This was certainly a strange time to go find herself.

Phillips writing style was interesting and captivating. In spite of a squirrelly plot, I kept listening to the book. For that reason, I gave the book a 3.
