This book is directed towards young readers, but I would caution not to let a young sensitive reader read this book. It has rather graphic battle scenes that someone who is sensitive to blood and death of horses or humans would find disturbing. There are references to the various gods of the time and ghosts of dead horses.

Overall, I found this book interesting to read (as an adult), it gives the reader a perspective of the person of Alexander the Great, an extremely power driven man who considered himself a god, son of Zeus. I like to read stories about horses and this book has an interesting twist to the telling of the story through the great horse Bucephalas.

I would recommend this book with the caution for the sensitive reader.
