A classic "road" book covering areas now extremely dangerous to travel through. A must for armchair travelers.

The Direct-Orient Express, they Khyber Pass Local, the Delhi Mail from Jaipur, the Golden Arrow to Kuala Lumpur and the Trans-Siberian Express-only a few of the evocative names that fill this, the story of Paul Theroux's epic journey by rail through India and Asia. This is Thoroux at his best. Very good reading.

This time Theroux takes us on a trip on all the GREAT trains - - Orient Express, Mandalay Express and others. From London through Europe, Asia, and the Siberian region. It was a great trip.
