Terrible Star Trek book. The story line is horribly contrived, the cannon characters are not very accurate, and the original characters are lacking depth. I was very disappointed and almost didn't finish reading it - but I managed to hang on until the end, just to see if it ever had a redeeming moment. In my opinion, it did not.

This book was un-necessary. It was mediocrely written and the ending was anticlimatic. As I stated in a review for the other books in this trilogy, the second one (Before Dishonor) is by far the best. However, seeing Picard's future was interesting, but hardly worth the first 300 pages of the novel to learn.
