A beautifully written novel with a dark, gothic story-line. Really not to be missed for fans of dark, paranormal romances.

Beautifully writen book. Language flows along very well. The book investigates reincarnation and travels you back to past lives of the character during the reign of the Tudors. I like Wintrop Women and Avalon better but this is very good as well. If you have never read Anya Seton I recommend picking up one of her books. She much better than many of our recent historical fiction writers.

This unforgettable story of undying love combines mysticism, suspense, mystery, and romance into a web of good and evil that stretches from 16th-century England to the present day. Richard Marsdon marries a young American woman named Celia, brings her to live at his English estate, and all seems to be going well. But now Richard has become withdrawn, and Celia is constantly haunted by a vague dread. When she suffers a breakdown and wavers between life and death, a wise doctor realizes that only by forcing Celia to relive her past can he enable her to escape her illness. Celia travels back 400 years in time to her past life as a beautiful but doomed servant. Through her eyes, we see the England of the Tudors, torn by religious strife, and experience all the pageantry, lustiness, and cruelty of the age. As in other historical romance titles by this author, the past comes alive in this flamboyant classic novel.

Excellent book on romance with the paranormal thrown in. A married couple in current day (1970's) discovers they are a reincarnated couple from the 16th century and are here again together to "get it right". Very good read!

I actually have the BOOK CLUB version of this book, which doesn't appear to have an ISBN number. However, it is published by the same company and has the same cover.

One of the best books I have ever read. Intertwines the present with the past remarkably well--a page turner. I read this book every few years.
I love this book. I think I read it at least once a year.
Seton is not as well known as she once was, but she is a very reliable storyteller.
This is one of a few books that I actually re-read. It's a little outside my usual taste but I just loved it (often through tears!).
I wanted so much to like this book but I just couldn't get into it.
This is an old book. Happy to see it turn up here. One of my all time favorites regarding reincarnation. Rich in detail and characterization.
The story spans 16th-century England to present day regarding an undying love, good and evil, mysticism.

This was a book I read a long time ago but still recall how very much I enjoyed. The story captivates you and you become enthralled with what happens. From a background not strong in reincarnation, it was fascinating.
Found this novel fascinating on many levels, as it is a complex tale of time-travel -- or is it reincarnation? As always in her books, the historical research is thorough, and the storyline truer than life. Gritty, romantic, mystical - it has all the elements of a Great Read, as far as I am concerned!
