Not my cup of tea, but there seems to be a lot of people who enjoyed it. There was a part where the main character was attacked by her estranged abusive x-husband & then her child wanted to go live with a friend that I did not care for because the child thought his mother wasn't helping clear his father (who had just attacked his mother) from a suspective murder trial.

I love Goldy the Caterer and think you will too. A very good read.

Mystery-wise, this was one of my favorites. Lots more suspects and questions floating around than usual so it was hard to figure out, and I never knew who did it until the end. I loved that there were so many complexities to it.
That being said, this was also not a favorite of mine. Goldy's son is totally obnoxious, whining to his mother that she MUST prove his dad innocent, even after the Jerk attacks Goldy yet again. Her relationship with her son grates on my nerves. She does anything and everything so he's never upset, no matter how close to breaking she is. The kid knows nothing about respect for his mother and this time I really wanted to throttle him. He's always sorry at the end, but he's not 10 anymore.
And for goodness sake, get a backbone, woman! Her customers treat her horribly, calling at 6 am and shrieking at her about grilled chicken, calling and hanging up on her over and over. Give me a break. I know you've got to keep calm to keep clients, but there's nothing wrong with setting limits. There just seemed to be a lot of overwrought, overemotional people screeching, screaming and shrieking in this book.
Like I said, the mystery was terrific, the food sounded divine, but how she handled her other problems this time was very off-putting and at times, to me, detracted from the story.

One of my favorite Goldy Bear caterer mysteries. WIth recipes!

This is the 7th Goldy Culinary mystery. I think the plot was perhaps a littel better developed than some of her earlier works - we had more suspects for the "whodunit" mystery of the book.
These books are fun, light reading & I like the characters. My only complaint is that sometimes there is a bit of a contrived feel to them and occasionally there are glimpses of poor editing, i.e., we'll have a detail crop up that didn't belong, or there will be an assumption that the reader was never privy to.
Nitpicky stuff, really ... I will certainly be reading the other books of this series ... they are fun & entertaining!
