Disturbingly creepy & graphic. Not for the squeamish or easily grossed out!

It took me a minute to actually get around to reading this book after purchase - fairy tales, a modern-day witch, a child hero? Didn't sound very promising or scary. Boy was I wrong! Once again R. Patrick Gates delivers! Great characters, engrossing storyline, and scenes that come alive upon reading! I ordered the sequel, Grimm Reapings, half way through the reading of this book!

Loved it! Loved it! Cannot say enough how good this book was. I didn't want it to end! Definately puts a new perspective to your ideas of fairy tales!

A take on all of the Grimm fairy tales. A woman who owns an old mortuary is kidnapping children to complete a nasty ritual.
I guess I am getting to be a spoiled brat when it comes to my horror. Years ago, I would have found this book pretty entertaining, now it pales in comparison to some of the other goodies I have read. Not bad for some but I like my horror a little more hardcore.
this book is awesome horror novel retelling of the old children tale Hansel and Gretel.
Really horrifying novel!

Unce upon a time there was a perfect little New England town called Northwood. The people there were the nicest you'd ever hope to meet - like Steve and Diane Nailer and their terrific kids. And in a darling house on the edge of town, over the river and through the woods, an old lady lived. She was a witch and she worked her wicked magic, first on all the men in town, and then on the women.
Soon she would be ready to take on the children - in the most haunting, frightening and grimmest fairy tale since the very first time innocence was forced to struggle with evil and terror...
