This short novella of Merv's outraged misadventure was surprisingly fun. At first, it was the fun of watching an inconsiderate jerk get what he has coming to him, then the grim horror of realizing that he is in serious trouble, and might not make it out alive, followed by mounting suspense as we wait to see if a rescuer arrives...or not.

I don't really know what to say about this book. I didn't not like it, but I don't think I liked it either. It was categorized as a Tragic Comedy. I didn't really find it funny, other than one part where Marv was casting people to play the movie roles of the people in his life. I didn't think that anything that happened to Marv was tragic either. I do believe that the only reason I even finished the book was to find out if the bear finally ate Marv. It's not spoiling the ending for those who want to read it, but I was pleasantly surprised with the last chapter.

Everyone has their own thing when it comes to humor. I know my sense of humor differs from some but is the same with others. This seems to be the way of this book. I've read where there were people who thought it was hilarious and those who didn't find it entertaining at all. Unfortunately, I am in the latter part. It started out well. It did have me chuckling at first but as it continued, I felt more irritation than humor. The main character was just too much of a jerk and the situation got too ridiculous for me to enjoy. My suggestion would be to give it a try. It all depends on what tickles your funny bone.
