As a HUGE fan of Alfred Hitchock and Francois Truffaut, this book is just pure movie nerd bliss to me. This is actually a book-length interview, where Truffaut leads Hitchcock from the beginning of his film career, to designing those cards that held the dialouge on silent films to his entire directing career. They do not skip anything, and this book made me appreciate Hitchcock's films all the more. They cover camera shots, scripts, the Macguffins, the actors and amusing anecdotes. Hitchcock holds nothing back, and when I read how much he disliked some actors performances in certain films (think Gregory Peck!!) I was incredibly surprised. Truffaut started out as a journalist and he's an amazing interviewer (being a Hitchock fantantic also helped) and Hitchcock is a witty, funny and intelligent man. Highly recommended for fans and film students.
