Habibi has been my all-time favorite book ever since I first read it twelve years ago at the age of 10.
Nye's writing is lyrical, beautiful, and haunting. Her characters are well-crafted and seem to really live, breathe, and sing, even after you've closed the book. Her descriptions of Arab culture are delicious, and she writes compassionately and compellingly about the twisted knot of Israeli-Palestinian relations.
A must-read.
