Carlos Delacruz is a half-dead/half-alive enforcer for the New York Council of the Dead. He thinks that he is the only one of his kind, until he is sent to stop another "inbetweener" who is attempting to open the barrier between the dead and the living. His target also happens to have a hot sister, who may or may not be on his side.
Half-Resurrection Blues is a promising start to a new series by a debut author. The beginning of the story grabbed me instantly, but I felt the pacing lagged somewhat throughout the latter parts. Nonetheless, this book is a welcome change from the usual vampire fare, and features an interesting protagonist with a quick sense of humor.
