Death Gate Cycle book 5.4 of 7. A very well written fantasy series of a future of the Earth where magic has sundered the world into 4 new worlds, each completely different. Each book stands alone to a large extent but each also tends to build onits predecessors.

Book 5 of the Death Gate series....Please read the others in the series to get the complete effect and history of characters.
Alfred is in the Labrynth and not in this book. Haplo continues his inner battle and is actually growing a soft heart....but so is Hugh the Hand who was mysteriously resurrected from the dead...There is an ancient evil that is plotting to feed of the fear, hatred and pain of the battling races in this land and Haplo and friends must defeat it. But can they defeat something so ancient and so aweful- especially when it's evil reflects the same emotions in their own hearts? Once again we see Bane at his cruelest pursuing the throne and power he so deeply craves. I liked this book. I love how Weiss and Hickman make you feel for the characters and that even the coldest of hearts can change.
Just finished it last night...On to book 6!

I totally enjoyed this book. Very good plot, very good characters, and great bad guys. Weis and Hickman have really built a great world(s). Which is Earth broken apart. Characters from other books they've written have make token appreances. I've really started to like Haplo and Alfred better as they grow to be better people. When they realize that hatred or dominance (no matter how well intentioned) is not the answer to peace. Very good fantasy series!!

This is fantasy amped up a notch and it is great. I read all seven and have just posted them all. I loved each and every one. Great, memorable characters and adventures galore. Weis and Hickman are legends for a reason.
