This book started out to be very dry for me. I started skimming a lot of the first few chapters, almost giving up on it entirely. Had the book been written by an author I wasn't familiar with, I probably would have stopped reading after a couple of chapters, but I kept reading hoping it would finally pick up. I was pleasantly surprised to find that somewhere along the way, the story grabbed me and I was sucked into Kit's life, wanting to know what would happen next.
Diane's secret seemed fairly obvious early on, so I wasn't surprised when I found out what it was, but I found myself more interested in knowing why she did it.
It's a little disturbing in places, highly disturbing in others, and definitely twisted most of the way through. I felt like it was a bit unbelievable throughout most of it, but it was still a solid read.
