For a little book (actually a short story) this one has its share of complications.
Gamache is called to Three Pines to investigate the death of a man who was found hanging from a tree. Suicide? Many thought so initially. But no, forensics ruled that out.
The man had been staying at the upscale inn and spa, but nobody knows why. Once again, Chief Inspector Gamache needs to delve into the past to make sense of the present. He is joined by many of the Three Pines friends he has made over the years as well as by his trusted second, Jean-Guy.
