This was a book club choice. I thought it was an interesting look at relationships and struggles of a hard life. Personally, I found it to be a slow moving story.

Beautifully written book chronicling the lives of three women, beginning in the 19th century Sweden. First the grandmother, then the daughter, then the grandaughter. Each section is in the voice of the woman telling the story, some in first person, some in third. The story itself was touching and emotional.

100 years of Scandinavian history. One thing that always amazes me about books like this is how much can change in the world from the time a grandmother is born til her grandchild is born.

Beautiful story about three generations of women in a family. It is wonderfuly written, one that will draw you in. If you like family, generation differences and stories of love, faith, and hope you will find it hard to put this book down. You will see each woman as a different person, and then as almost the same as they grow older, Each have loved, hated are restless, cry and care for their families. Very touching story.

It starts a bit slow but if you keep reading it gets better and the closer you get to finishing it, you don't want it to end. Overall it was an okay book, a book I'm glad I read but probably won't read again and again.
Loved this book! Lots of interesting cultural information and was just a good book about 3 generations of Norweigan women.
it was different and was well written

Sweeping through one hundred years of Scandinavian history, this luminous story follows three generations of Swedish women--a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter--whose lives are linked through a century of great love and great loss. Resonating with truth and revelation, this moving novel deftly explores the often difficult but enduring ties between mothers and daughters, the sacrifices, compromises, and rewards in the relationships between men and women, and the patterns of emotion that repeat themselves through generations. If you have ever wanted to connect with the past, or rediscover family, Hanna's Daughters will strike a chord in your heart. . . .
