Great book. Started out a bit slow. But once I got into it it read more like a story. I loved learning about all of the exploits that made Hannibal great. I feel better off for having read this book.

Unfortunately this book describes the authors trip where he travels over the route Hannibal took and describes the country on a then & now basis. You do get the history of Hannibal, but it is so fragmented by the trip descriptions that it was not interesting to me. You could almost describe this book as a 'Travel' book.
