An excellent read . Gripping and accelerated. Highly recommended

This book made me sick to my stomache. Not just because it was gory. Harris has taken his iconic characters and perverted them into cartoonish reflections of their former selves. It is long winded, gruesome, and generally horrible. I am a huge fan of Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs and this was a sore disappointment.

I definitely did not enjoy this book as much as Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs. It seemed like it was mostly just gruesome for gruesome sake.

This was a great book, as are all of Thomas Harris' books, except the first one. He is a wonderful descriptive writer but doesn't go overboard. Hannibal is scary enough to keep you up at night but too intrigued to put it down.

You remember Hannibal Lecter. 7 years have passed since his escape from custody. Intruders have entered Dr Lecter's sanctuary, piercing his new identity. The hunt for Hannibal Lecter haas begun and who will live long enough to savor the reward. Very Good

Much better than the movie!
Gripping and far better and more in depth than the sad movie.
A great closure to the series. A must have for fans.

This is a GREAT read; puts the film(s) to deep shame! Do not take if you are looking to read the movie, though. It is rather different.
Thomas Harris is an excellent writer, with one of the worst villians in modern fiction.
Delicious - but gory.
much better than the movie
Good horror book. Spooky!!!!!
Read this one a long time ago. Popular book. It is definitely a good thriller.
Sequel to "The Silence of the Lambs." Genius, man of taste and cannibal Hannibal Lecter is still on the run, but before long his path crosses that of disgraced FBI Agent Clarice Staling a second time... with explosive results. Even more gripping and disturbing than the Ridley Scott movie.
If you thought the movie was bad the book will make you lock the doors and turn on all the lights LOL
Some people didn't like this book because of its ending. I loved it mainly because of its ending - it is so original and different from the tons of serial killer books out there...well written, and different from the movie (different ending adn much more depth. Of course, like all Harris' books, it isn't for the faint of heart. Liked it alot!
This is the sequel to "Silence of Lambs." Equally suspenseful and spell-binding. Great read.
Excellent
If you've read Silence of the Lambs, you have to read Hannibal. It's absolutely gripping with a killer twist at the end.

Dr. Lecter is back and this time he is free! Excellent writing and ends differently from the movie (but not in a bad way). Also, much better than the movie (which is typical). I was very pleased with this book.
Dreadful
Did you watch or read THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS?
Did you wonder what would happen if Hannibal Lector ever got loose?
In this book---he does . . .

I loved this book! I was so disappointed in the movie. The movie was nothing like the book. If you like Silence of the Lambs, you gotta get this one! I know I'm sick, but I absolutely loved the ending.
Creepy, great following to Silence of the Lambs!
Chilling! Excellent read.
This book was great, although it was not as good as Silence of the Lambs. I would suggest anyone who read Silence of the Lambs to read this though.
Fantastic book, pretty graphic, but that's what keeps us going, right?
This book is somewhat more of a character study than the more traditional thrillers posed by Harris's earlier books: while it does have some murders and gore, it focuses much more on the who and why than on the action itself. A notable exception is the ending, which (unlike the film based on this book) is really quite graphic. (The film's ending is extremely different in all respects.)
I personally found this to be a fascinating read, but also recognize that its divergence in tone and ending from the previous novels may put off some readers. That said, if you liked the previous novels and want to know what makes Hannibal Lechter tick... this is the way to find out.

The sequel to 'Silence of the Lambs'. Seven years have passed since Hannibal Lecter escaped from custody.....
Much better than the movie. I enjoyed it so much especially since it was such a page turner!
Harris is a wonderful writer, loved this book.
A must read to keep track of Hannibal Lecter
The book is much better than the movie. You aren't left with any doubts about Hannibal and Clarice.
Loved it!!!
Harris delivers a tight, exciting novel with Hannibal. The Clarice Starling character works for me, not the deepest development, but enough so you care about her. Twisted anti-hero Hannibal Lecter is depicted as a kind of super-man, not quite believable, but close enough to thrill you. Harris fills in all the crevices of his tale with intriguing detail. Overall a good read.
Good Read
Personally, this is my favorite of Harris' series because it delves into the world of who Hannibel Lecter really is. There are a couple spots that make the reader want to squirm, but for those who love trying to figure out the psyche of truly twisted characters, this is right up your alley.
Clarice Starling is in a spot. Her career is on the skids and her only ally seems to be the one man she doesn't want to see...at least not without bars between them. Hannibal wants to help Clarice, but a strange change is going on in him, as well. This is the last REAL book in the series so far and it's a good one. Not as good as Silence of the Lambs, but...what is? The ending comes out of nowhere and is much different than the movie. A lot creepier. I still hope that someday the series will have another real chapter, but who knows?
I read this before the movie came out and as always, the book was much better! If you liked the movie, definitely read the book.
The dangerous doctor loves his protagonist or at least his creation of her. The FBI lady is a person to admire. Great ending.
I remember being very eager to read it but can't remember if I thought it was as great as "Silence of the Lambs" - "Silence" the movie was definitely better than "Hannibal" the movie.
Not as good as Silence of the Lambs
A chilling read
You've seen the movie, now read the book......
This book isn't as good as Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs, but still worth reading. Bits of it are difficult to read because of the gore (which, oddly, didn't bother me in the first two books). The ending is different, and I believe much better, than the ending that was written for the movie.
I liked "Silence of the Lambs" and "Red Dragon" better, but this continuation of the story was still thrilling and unpredictable.
(From the back cover)
You remember Hannibal Lecter: gentleman, genius, cannibal. He's back and hungrier than ever in a masterpiece of suspense-a dazzling feast for the imagination.

Where have you been if you haven't heard of Hannibal Lechter. Harris put a horrific new style villian in play with this fellow. Think of all the adjectives in the horror genre and you would be close. Made into a big screnn movie...both great...if you are into deep terror...
The mind of a serial killer...fascinating.
awful, what a terrible continuation of Silence of the Lambs
Remember the Gentleman cannible, genuis, Hannibal Lector, in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS? This is the sequel. It's been seven years since Dr. Lector escaped from custody. Agent, Clarice Starling continues the hunt, along with two other officers who all have their own reasons for finding Dr. Lector. All 3 will get their wish, but only one will live long enough to savor the reward. . . . A very riveting and terrifynig read.
Red Dragon was brilliant. Silence of the Lambs was even better. Hannibal - not so much.
I do not understand why Harris is trying to make Lecter a sympathetic character. I do not believe it can be done. It certainly wasn't down with this book. I'm not going to waste my time with the sequel - Hannibal Rising.
The second star is because it is a compelling read because of the writing and story-telling ability of the author. I wish he'd find someone else to write about.

What can I say?? Scary, terrifying, lock your doors and you might want to leave a night light on!

Movie was good. Book was better.
Great book! I could hardly put this one down. The movie doesn't do the book justice.
If you have a love jones for Dr. Lecter after watching Silence of the Lambs, you have to read this one! You won't be able to put it down!
I loved this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I just couldn't put it down. It freaked me out which made it even better.
Hard to put down... an interesting ending that is hard to believe.
excellent read
This one was better than Silence of the Lambs, if you can believe that!
This book was a little hard to get into in the beginning, however it turned out to be a good book. It was very gory, but I liked the ending. The ending was not what I expected. The action is fast and very gory, if you have a good imagination this book will keep you up at night.
This book is an unblinking look at the character of Hannibal Lecter and his evolving relationship with FBI agent Starling.
A very good suspense novel about Hannibal Lecter. But is very graphic and sometimes iccky but a good read.
It has been 7-years Dr. Hannibal Lecter escaped from FBI custody. Mason Verger(one of Lecter's victims) is obsessed with revenge upon him. This is when FBI agent Clarice Starling gets involved. This book is a chilling portrait of insidiously evolving evil.
I love this one. The character of Hannibal really creeps me out, which is good. I don't scare easy and this man really does scare me even though he's fake.
A really good book!!! Different from the movie and in my opinon, much better than the movie. Hannibal really gets into our mind, you see what he sees and thinks what he thinks.
Not nearly as good as the original
In my personal opinion the movie is tons better than the book. Some things in the book were not in the movie.
Of course it's great. So much better than the movie.
The last in the Hannibal Lector series and is the follow up to The Silence Of The Lambs. Absolutely terrific book and it blows the movie away!
Horror lit\'s head chef Harris serves up another course in his Hannibal \"The Cannibal\" Lecter trilogy, and it\'s a pièce de résistance for those with strong stomachs. In the first book, Red Dragon (filmed as Manhunter), Hannibal diabolically helps the FBI track a fascinating serial killer. (Takes one to know one.) In The Silence of the Lambs, he advises fledgling FBI manhunter Clarice Starling, then makes a bloody, brilliant escape.
Years later, posing as scholarly Dr. Fell, curator of a grand family\'s palazzo, Hannibal lives the good life in Florence, playing lovely tunes by serial killer/composer Henry VIII and killing hardly anyone himself. Clarice is unluckier: in the novel\'s action-film-like opening scene, she survives an FBI shootout gone wrong, and her nemesis, Paul Krendler, makes her the fall guy. Clarice is suspended, so, unfortunately, the first cop who stumbles on Hannibal is an Italian named Pazzi, who takes after his ancestors, greedy betrayers depicted in Dante\'s Inferno.
Pazzi is on the take from a character as scary as Hannibal: Mason Verger. When Verger was a young man busted for raping children, his vast wealth saved him from jail. All he needed was psychotherapy--with Dr. Lecter. Thanks to the treatment, Verger is now on a respirator, paralyzed except for one crablike hand, watching his enormous, brutal moray eel swim figure eights and devour fish. His obsession is to feed Lecter to some other brutal pets.
What happens when the Italian cop gets alone with Hannibal? How does Clarice\'s reunion with Lecter go from macabre to worse? Suffice it to say that the plot is Harris\'s weirdest, but it still has his signature mastery of realistic detail. There are flaws: Hannibal\'s madness gets a motive, which is creepy but lessens his mystery. If you want an exact duplicate of The Silence of the Lambs\'s Clarice/Hannibal duel, you\'ll miss what\'s cool about this book--that Hannibal is actually upstaged at points by other monsters. And if you think it\'s all unprecedentedly horrible, you\'re right. But note that the horrors are described with exquisite taste. Harris\'s secret recipe for success is restraint.

WONDERFUL!

OOOOOOOOo Hannibal! Goodie! Goodie!
not as good as the movie.
NY Times #1 bestseller, author of Silence of the Lambs, good as Red Dragon & SOL or better says Stephen King.
Sigh. I have a feeling that this was written because someone bullied or harassed Mr. Harris into it. It seems to be about some other, different Hannibal Lecter. Not the one we've grown to know and cringe from in the first two novels. The writing isn't bad, exactly, it's just not consistent with the other two works. I don't want to rag on Mr. Harris, he's one of the most entertaining writers I've ever read, but this one just didn't seem to 'click'.
Can't say anything bad about Thomas Harris. Really scary and good book.
it is as good as red dragon and silence of the lambs,no better,it is one of the most frightening novel
A major motion picture from MGM and Universal by the author of The Silence of the Lambs.
I love all the books about Dr. Lecter, but this one was a bit more graphic than the others. At times, I thought the author was just going for shock value, but it was still a great story!
Loved it!!!!
Hey--anyone who's read/seen The Silence of the Lambs has to read this!
Really really perversely violent. Interesting in a pornagraphic way. You probably gathered how sick this story was from the movie. It's an enjoyable read if you like to see how gross somebody's imagination can be. Gathering from today's detective shows- that would be a lot of people.
The sequel to Silence of the Lambs.
the book was definitely better than the movie; however, I along with several of my friends, witnessed the filming of the house by the lake scenes, at the end of the movie/book. They used an old home in Richmond. We sat across the street for hours and sighted Julieanne Moore, Ray Liotta and Anthony Hopkins. He waved to us and said hello. He also had a [body] double that was eerily similar looking!
Great book, intense, scary.
Front cover corner bent and frayed somewhat. Pages tight.
"Interested in getting the hell scared out of you? Buy this book on a Friday...lock all doors and windows and by Monday, you just might be able to sleep without a night light." Newsday
excellent read

Full of suspense.Come on,it's Hannibal Lecter.Silence of the Lambs!!It's a great read...
Book is definitely better than the movie-- a must-read for any fan of Silence of the Lambs, but prepare yourself for a gore-fest.
Superior writing...again!
The book is better than the movie. Reading it is scarrier. You don't want to read it at night when you are alone. Every bit as good as Silence of The Lambs.
THis is one of my favorites.
suspenseful.
Very good
hannibal lecter. i enjoyed reading this but it had a really weird plot
The book is better than the movie, of course. It's more detailed and you really get into the mind of the deliciously evil, Hannibal Lecter.

The sequel to Silence of the Lambs. It's been seven years sincce Dr. Hannibal Lecter's escape....and the horror continues.
Sequel to Silence of the Lambs
Not the best of the Hannibal Lecter series. But it's still a good book.
This is better than the movie, and it is in new condition.
i havent fininsh reading yet , but great so far
A bit too boring for me...but still a good book....cover is slightly worn but in good shape
nice clean condition.
Great condition.
