If you're looking for something cute and fun, this might be a good choice for you, especially if you like light vampire lit. Milagro de los Santos is the kind of character you wish you could be for just a short time, even with all the craziness she goes through in this book. Latina heroines are hard to find in this genre, and she didn't disappoint in being smart, fun and sexy. I found this book quite charming, and read the complete book between noon and dinner time. I read fast though, so don't think this is a small book! I did find myself wavering on what male character (of a few) I wanted her to end up with, but I was by no means disappointed in the end. This book was funny, often sexy, warming, and I felt it was time well spent. I missed it a bit when I was done.

A different take on the whole "vampire" story. It was cute & fun to read. My only complaint is that there were quite a few spanish phrases and/or sayings in the book, since the main character is Mexican, and I don't understand Spanish. Most of it I could basically figure out, but some I couldn't. Im one that always has to look up a word in the dictionary if I don't know the meaning, or it will drive me nuts. Didn't have a Spanish dictionary nearby HA! I will still read the rest of the series.

Perty darn funny! Again, I love writers with humor. Acosta has infused her main character, Milagro, with such a unique personality - I loved it! Another one of those books that had me from hello. There is a sequel - which will go on my list. Great characters, the story is consistently taut, which keeps you reading. I was pleasantly surprised - with the cheesy title and all.

This book was a very fun read. Every page has a giggle and every other page has a laugh out loud right up to the very end where it seems as though the author ran out of time to write the book and had to hurry up and put an ending on. Don't get me wrong I liked the ending just wish there had been as much substance to the details in it as the rest of the book.

funny, rather light-hearted vampire romance/comedy written in first person. A quick, fun read.

This book is so funny. The vampires are stuck-up snobs with attitudes. Main character is full of witty thoughts that will make you smile, and there is plenty of sexual tension throughout the book. Really fun to read.

Very tongue and cheek...a very fun read. Not too deep! Can't wait for the third book. If you enjoy Sookie or Betsy you'll love this one.

I had read this book when it first came out but recently won a signed copy and re-read it. I am so glad I did, I thoughly enjoyed the book. Milagro de los Santos is a well rounded character who I could easily see myself being friends with. The book made me laugh out loud several times gaining me some pretty funny looks from my family! You can just feel the chemistry between Milagro and Oswald and are thirsty for more! I know I am and I can't wait to read book 2 which is Midnight Brunch at Casa Dracula!
Great start to a good series. Really enjoyed this one
This book had a few clever little quips, but I thought, in general, that the plot was a little stilted, and that the "heroine" was portrayed almost solely as a Latina woman with large "cha-cha's". Her character could have benefitted from some depth.

A very light and cute read a la the Betsy books by MaryJanice Davidson. Don't expect any characters with depth or an intricate plot. I enjoyed it enough to want to read the next book.

Happy Hour at Casa Dracula is a lovely book. It steers clear of the frenzy pace and ditzy heroine of many books in the vampire chick lit genre. I love that the main character is a gardener.
A thoroughly enjoyable light summer read. It's a fun new take on vampire mythology and the writing is jocular and fast-paced. There's a romance building through the book but there isn't much steaminess. Marta Acosta establishes a great set of characters whom you come to easily like and look forward to reading about in further books.
A nice quick read! Must admit it had me laughing out loud at times!

This author truely knows how to turn a phrase to have you laughing.
I was underimpressed, I didn't even finish it, though I tried several times. That's about all I can say.
