There’s a series of women going missing, and Sunny feels powerless to stop it. There’s her persistent and awesomely-rebellious daughter Auri, who’s ...  more »

I expected to enjoy this book. Didn't expect to love it, but I absolutely did. Darynda has done something pretty special here. It was feisty and fun and very sweet.

Few can do group dynamics as well as Darynda; and she is really on her game with this cast. This is a large, lively group who really understand each other, and boy does that shine through. Ever grin until your cheeks hurt? No? A Hard Day for a Hangover will fix that right up.

I had so much fun with these characters. I'm probably supposed to be all ga-ga over What's-his-name. Don't get me wrong; he's cool and all, with those eyes and that smirk (sigh). But I fell arse over teakettle for Quincy, he's just yummy. If he were a real person I'd have to hunt him down. I'd take my chances with Hailey, I could probably hold my own against her. Sunshine would make me regret looking too closely at Levi.

I love the way pieces of the past drop into the present and become part of the active tale. It's an old technique, but I've seldom seen it done as well as Darynda has here. Like a twofer, - past and future drama coming together simultaneously. So much fun.

I thought I knew what shape the story would take, and I was dead nuts wrong. And what a gift that was. Even the parts I expected to annoy made me like the story even more. Frequent perspective changes are usually a hard no for me. And I like Ari, but she came off like Charlie Davidson 2.0 in books one and two. If I wanted to watch a loose cannon shoot off and find trouble I'd go to the source. (No thank you. Once was enough) But Ari has pulled one hell of a maturing act since A Good Day for Chardonnay. And Sha-Zam - now the perspective changes balance the story, and actually add dimension. Heighten tension perfectly! Something I really did not want punched up the story. Whodathunk?

Goodbyes are sad; especially if you aren't ready to let go, but take it from someone who still has not played Bowie's last disk. There are times when the letting go is too painful, but this is not one of those times. If you are waffling over whether to read soon or wait - don't wait. This story is endlessly entertaining. Besides I have a feeling we will see The Sunshine Crew again. I don't see Darynda setting Sunshine Vicram on the shelf just yet.

I loved the time I spent with A Hard Day for a Hangover. It was a satisfying read that kept me giggling and made my heart happy. Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's for this ARC. I had a great time
