Pepper Marsh wants a knight in tights. That's the only reason this single, currently unemployed software engineer sick of technogeeks agreed to attend a "Renaissance Faire" with her cousin C. J. Fortunately, on her very first day at ye olde faire, Pepper stumbles across Walker McPhail, a totally scrumptious Englishman who rescues Pepper just as she is about to be trampled by a horse. Despite the fact that as soon as Walker has her out of danger's way, it seems like he couldn't be less interested in her, Pepper is still intrigued by her daring, dashing knight. Then, after she discovers that Walker was once the toast of the jousting circuit but mysteriously gave up competing, she vows to do a bit of rescuing herself. Generously seasoned with her distinctive brand of impudent wit, set against the fascinating world of jousting competitions, and graced with a full cast of deliciously original characters (including a fiendishly adorable cat), MacAlister's latest fresh, funny, and fabulously sexy contemporary romance is pure fun.

This is my kind of romance. An intelligent (but not perfect) heroine mixing it up with an Alpha male, who though cautious, isn't really afraid to love a woman. The two take turns chasing each other (though neither runs away very fast or for very long.) The banter is humorous, the sex is hot, and the payoff is love (since the sex starts early.) I'm ordering more of this author's books.

Cute but simple. A good "fluff" book for a quick read with no expectations.

great, fun spicy read! One of my new favorites...wish I hadn't already traded it!

Another terrific Katie MacAlister book! As usual, this one keeps you laughing from the first page to the last. It has comedy, sex, intrigue, a little of everything - all wrapped up in delightful Ren-Fair style!

I love Katie MacAlister's books. Especially her unique books. This book showed the reality of all those who love the period of time where a Knight was the highest a man could aspire to be and real women were okay being Wenchs. This book takes place at a Renaissance Fair and shows the behind the scenes and the fun of a Fair.

If you have ever dreamed of a knight of the olden days to walk into your modern life... this story is for you! A wonderful story that takes place at a Renaissance Fair:) Modern day twists with colorful language, knights, wenches and jousting. A whole cast of interesting characters... old fashion values vs. the modern woman...a good read.

I really like Katie MacAlister for a fun read, and I hope someone enjoys this as much as I have!

Offbeat romance. Not one of her better stories.

The story starts out with an out of work software engineer, Pepper, going with her cousin to a Renaissance Faire in Canada. Her cousin has promised to hook her up with the man of her dreams. Easy enough right? Well Pepper has ideas of her own about the man she wants. Of course he is not what her cosin considers "perfect" for Pepper. What happens next is a hilarious story involving a crazy overfed cat + virile stubborne man (dressed as a knight of old)+ lots of lust= misunderstandings galore!!!
I have to say that I liked this book quite a lot. The dialog between the characters was great. Pepper is very fiesty and I liked that she refused to give up. I did not care too much for her cousin CJ (pesonally, I would have wanted to slap her) Over all it is a good read that I reccomend.

This was a cute book. A bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it. The only part that wasn't predictable (At least not to me) was WHY the "bad guy" did what s/he did.

A fun, quick read. If you're a fan of Renaissance Faires and romances, you'll really enjoy this book!
A saucy offbeat and wacky story. I would highly recommend it.
As usual her books are fabulous..I laughed out loud thru out the whole book! Its a great read!
I found the setting interesting and the characters held my attention.
Definitely a fun book - loved the romance and the look at a Renaissance Faire. I will definitely be reading more of her books.
very funny! this is one of her best!
Katie Mac is so funny, she just puts adifferent spin on things
This book was funny but totally unbelievable with shallow characters and storyline.

This was the first book I read by Katie MacAlister, and it won't be the last. I laughed out loud and was giggling and snickering to myself so many times that my husband had to come and see what was up.
I really enjoy the first person POV style that Ms. MacAlister uses and I absolutely LOVE the fact that she has made the majority of her heroines "real" women. I can identify with this character and her Wench "breast shelf." ROTFL!! The characters in this book are so well described and true to the close-knit group you'd find at a renfaire/fest. This book will be finding its way on my keeper shelf (borrowed it from my library as I am apt to do first).

Good book. Though there is a Renaissance Faire in the backdrop, the story mosty centers around a jousting competition, which just isn't the same. I was disappointed it wasn't more faire-centric.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! This book!! If you love nights and armor and the whole 'damsel in distress' thing you will LOVE this book. I love when Katie makes the female character a strong independent suborn person who isn't afraid to get dirty. I especially love the back and forth between the 2 main characters, it keeps things interesting.
Great fun!
A fun tale and romance. McAlister can be a fun, quick read, and she has an unusual angle with this renisaunce tale.
I actually was married at a Renaissance Fair, so this book was very cute to me. Some bits were irritating, but for the most part it kept my interest.
honestly i thought this book was slow and stupid. i was very dissappointed in the whole thing, the writing was unamazing, the male character was very 2D and had no life to him and the heroine was dumb, heavey set and all she could do was focus on her weight, all throught the damn book!
Easy, fun read.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was light, funny and had a hot leading man so what more can you ask for? :-)
great great book. i can't say enough about Katie Mac. her books are unforgettable. This book is one of my favorites. Pepper is such a great character. about 3/4 into the book her loyalty is called into question and it just about broke my heart. I wanted to bop her cousin upside the head becuz she would believe others rather than believing her own cousin; what a witch. but everything turns out in the end. I highly recommend this book
Really good book, very fast read!
Enjoyable for the Ren Faire setting, which was a nice change from the 'usual' romance books. I thought a couple of late-in-the-book plot twists were rather unsupported and unbelievable. (Everyone thinks the worst of our girl, then do a rather sudden about-face).
A pleasurable read, all in all, but not one of the top books I've ever read.

One of my favorite authors. Haven't read a book of hers that I haven't loved.
This is the best book of hers I've read. It's fun and I love Pepper, she's so funny. I love all of her books.
Pretty funny, but a little (okay, a lot) unrealistic.
Fun read; I learned a lot about Renaissance fairs that made me want to attend one!
Men In Tights...
...never looked so good. At least that's Pepper Marsh's first impression when she attends a jousting competition at the Renaissance Faire in Ontario. An unemployed and unattached software engineer, Pepper has had enough of the computer geeks in her dating pool. She yearns for a man of yore. A man not afraid to stare death in the face and laugh at it. A man with a big lance...
Peppers's cousin has promised to find her a knight in shining armor, on the condition that Pepper walk around in wench garb. With her mind on her embarrassingly revealing bustier, Pepper promptly steps into the path of an oncomingsteed...and is rescuded by sexy Englishman Walker McPhail. Once the wild man of jousting, Walker has let a brush with death keep him out of the ring. Though his emotions are clad in almost impenetrable armor, Pepper finds Walker infuriatingly sexy-and she's about to go medieval on his heart...

Rollicking fun modern day romance. I laughed and thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Katie MacAlister, has become a master in creating offbeat and wacky heroines, that are not perfect female specimens - but just perfect for the heroes they ultimately end up with. In this latest novel she crafts a heroine who's self-esteem needed some boosting, as well as a hero who needed a push in the right direction to begin believing in himself again. She then she fills the pages with humor, wonderfully witty dialogs, highly sensuous bed sports, and lovely mix of supporting players to make this another delightfully sexy and tantalizing read that proves MacAlister to be a master of her game. Using an unknown (to me) real life organization for the re-creation of medieval games and times was a real treat, and had I ever been aware of such a thing as the League of Wenches (AND, if I was maybe 20 years younger) I'd probably be joining up myself! What a fun read this was!
Great funny, fluffy story as always.
Super funny and sexy. I loved it!
I really enjoyed this book. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of Katie MacAlister, but Hard Day's Knight was great! In my opinion, her best. The story moves really well; in fact, I couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed, basically nice people that one would want to read about. Definitely a book I can recommend.
Funny, sexy romance novel with a bit of mystery.
Honestly the plot became stale about halfway to two-thirds of the way through the book. I ended up skimming the last bit, but I loved the ending.
This book is SO funny! Pepper Marsh is looking for a good man, and her cousin promises to find her one. With the condition that she wear wench's garb. Granted she is at a Renaissance Faire in Ontario, so it isn't that out of place. Until she attends a Jousting competition and ends up strung between two horses.. and two handsome knights.
This book is funny, and heartwarming, with lots of heat thrown in.

Love Katie MacAlister. Parts of this book made me want to put it down, but I loved the rest. Made me want to go to a RenFaire
Didn't read this had been sitting on my shelf.
This was the third book I have read by this author. I really enjoyed the others. There were moments in this book that were fun but I did not enjoy nearly as much as her previous books. I will read her again. I think more than anything it was the storyline that I had issue with. Her writing is what kept my interest enough to finish it.
I like Katie's books and love ren faires so this was a lot of fun to read.
Better than Men in Kilts or The Corset Diaries!
Loved this book by Katie MacAlister also! It was a funny, light, entertaining read and I definitely look forward to reading more by her!
Fun read and if you like the renissance fairs you'll enjoy this book.
Another show stopper by Katie! This was the first Renaissance Faire book that I have ever read and it was really cute. Katie Macalister should have a book on every true romance reader's bookshelf.
Cute, funny read!
If you like Renaissance Faires then you'll love this book. It funny and fast paced too.
Really fun contemporary romance about finding love at a Ren Fest
If you like romantic comedy, then Katie MacAlister's HARD DAY'S KNIGHT is definitely the book for you. A modern-day romance set in contemporary times, this book has the feel of a historical comedy, revolving as it does around the world of a Renaissance Faire. For those of you who aren't familiar with this look into the past, Ren Faires are big business-a large number of people gather at these yearly events for a variety of reasons. A combination craft fair, historical reenactment, and performance arts, faires such as the one mentioned in this book draw huge crowds, from participants and spectators alike.
In Ms. MacAlister's world of the Renaissance Faire in Ontario, the characters might be make-believe, but the goings-on at the faire are anything but. For Pepper Marsh, being a software engineer without a job is bad enough. Being unable to find a date, and having nowhere else to look outside the geeks and computer techies she's used to working with, she travels with her cousin, CJ, to the Faire with an eye towards landing one of those hunky guys in tights that CJ is always talking about.
Unfortunately, the first things Pepper notices about a reenactment of medieval days of yore is the tireless effort it takes to put up a tent, avoid horse poop, and the disturbing chore of wearing revealing and embarrassing wench attire. Sure that all is lost, Pepper seeks out that knight-in-shining armor that she's sure is around the hot and dusty Faire somewhere. Stepping into the path of a hell-bent steed, she's fortunate enough to be rescued by none other than Walker McPhail.
A sexy, single, gorgeous Englishman who once jousted in the ring with the fervor of a true devotee, he's let a near-death experience keep him from jousting, his first love. The infuriating wench who seems out of her element is intriguing, even though Walker has a feeling that his buddies of the Three Dog Nights jousting team may have had a hand in their initial encounter.
With funny, believe secondary characters, fresh and humorous dialogue, and a hero and heroine who lock horns over just about everything, HARD DAY'S KNIGHT is a contemporary romantic comedy that you don't want to miss.

This was a fun book. The jousting and Ren-faire descriptions are dead on!
hilarious
Crazy fun, with a great heroine.
cute book. enjoyable quick read.
So what happens when a Wench (of the official Wenches Guild), falls for a modern day knight who has jousting issues? Lots of fun! If you enjoy Renaissance Faires, knights in shining (or slightly dented) armour... and sassy wenches, this is a great read.
I loved this book just like I love the majority of Katie Macalister's books.
Perfect Beach Read
This is a really funny book, I loved the cat in it, and the *heroine* has my kind of luck.
