Well, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It had funny moments for sure and I enjoyed it overall, but it wasn't my favorite in the series. The major case just didn't end in a satisfying way for me. There was so much build up and craziness and then it was over very suddenly. Of course, I'll still read the series because I love the character in general, but this one just didn't do it for me.

This was a fun read. Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has to find a mother and child to save her grandmother's house from being taken over by the bail bond agency that Stephanie works for.

Great series of books!

This was so funny, I laughed all the way through. Another great Janet Evanovich read!
Helpful Score: 1
In "Hard Eight", Janet Evanovich still writes in those quirky-borderline-stupid annoying secondary characters, but the story actually makes up for it. The case Stephanie Plum is working on does get a bit hairy at times and of course the whole Joe vs. Ranger thing is still a primary storyline. You will not be disappointed.

Wow, what a ride! This is the best one of the series yet! Solid action, front to back, with enough humor thrown in to make you actually LOL now and then!

enjoyable. I enjoyed the secondary characters a lot.

One of the many adventures of Stephanie Plum, a New Jersey bounty hunter (by default). Lots of excitement, laughter and even some highly charged moments. A terrific series of books!

Evanovich is back on track with the eighth book in the Stephanie Plum bounty hunter series. (I wasn't really all that enthralled with book seven.) She manages to add yet another quirky character (best described as a puppy who follows you around) and there are a couple of surpises from her all-too-perfect sister. Lots of fun in this one!
WOW! My favorite book in this series so far! You are going to love this book! If you have not read any other of the books in the series you don't have to start with the first one, but you will be hooked and will go back and get all the others! All I have to say is.....RANGER!!!!
As all the other book very funny! I really have enjoyed all of her book so far and I am reading nine now. I wish I could find more writers that would use their sense of humor more. I never seem to grow tired of her books.
Great book
Awesome! Couldn't stop laughing or put it down!
Janet Evanovich is laugh out-loud funny and exciting to boot!
My favorite Stephanie Plum book!
This is by far one of the funniest one of the Plum series.
All the usual characters and Stephanie and Ranger finally get together!
What can be said about Evanovich? She seems to get better with each number!
Great Read
Better than #7. This one got me back into the series, mostly b/c there is some sort of resolution with Ranger. ;)
Well, you have to love Stephanie Plum...
I'm a Evanovich addict. If I need a break from reality she gives it to me :)
Typical Stephanie Plum, only more outrageous and unstoppable
Grandma Mazur is hilarious!
Another great addition to the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich! Laugh-out-loud funny!
Man, her life just gets crazier and crazier! Hot stuff with Ranger. Oooh baby!
Another awesome Stephanie Plum mystery!!!
Great read and entertaining as always !!!
This series is always a great read !
Classic Stephanie Plum novel. Fun to read.
Eight in the Stephanie Plum series. I enjoyed them so much I had to read the whole series through.
You just can't get enough of Stephanie Plum. But I definitely recommend starting with One for the Money and working your way up. If you start in the middle of the series, you may not understand the characters as well.
A wild Stephanie Plum novel. Outrageously funny!
Another fun read.
Another great Stephanie Plum novel. Humorous and wonderful characters.
Excellent.
Book 8 in the Stephanie Plum series. If you are a Janet Evanovich fan, this book won't disappoint!
Stephanie Plum gets backed into a search for a missing mother and child, destroys several cars, and is menaced by a man in a rabbit suit. And, oh, yeah -- finally Does the Deed with Ranger.
Good book. Very easy to read.
Adventures continue in a thrilling and fun ride
This entire series is great light reading.
A fun read as usual with Evanovich.
I love all her books, and I love the character of Stephanie Plum. I think hard Eight was not one of the best ones, Seven was better. But she is still such a lovable character its totally wortht he read.
Fabulous, can't get enough of Stephanie Plum!
No doubt about it, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has man trouble. Her on-again, off-again relationship with Det. Joe Morelli is currently off, and she's made a tacit agreement to have a wild encounter with the mysterious Ranger. Currently, however, the most deadly man in Stephanie's life is Eddie Abruzzi, a psycho businessman and war-games fanatic.
Stephanie ran afoul of Eddie when she agreed to help her parents' neighbor Mabel Markowitz locate her granddaughter Evelyn and great-granddaughter Annie, who have gone into hiding. Mabel might lose her house because it was used as collateral in a custody bond. Evelyn's ex-husband, who also owes money to Eddie, is angry and threatening. Suddenly everyone is looking for Evelyn the big question is, why? When live snakes and spiders and dead people turn up in Stephanie's apartment, she knows she's in deep trouble. This will teach her to do a favor for a neighbor!
Stephanie Plum is really in a pickle this time! Just when you think that the adventures of Plum and company can't get any funnier or more convoluted.

I rate all ther Stephanie Plum books a 5.
This Stephanie Plum book by Janet Evanovich, like all the other Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, is fantastic, hysterical, wonderful, and a guaranteed anti-depressant!
Stephanie Plum and Lula make me laugh out loud even while on an airplane FULL of people!
Another great book by Janet Evanovich! This one was pretty funny.
I loved this book. The funiest yet.
If you're a Stephanie Plum fan, you'll enjoy the story!
Funny, intriguing, another hit from Janet Evanovich
This is the first book of Janet Evanovish's i have read. Her character Stephanie Plum is a riot, in a funny, troubled and crazy way.I really enjoyed the book, i found myself saying "oh, no" and "not again" alot, stephanie has a full life of crazy and excitement. I even found myself laughing till i cried a few times.
Now i'm going to start from the beginning of the series. i have to find out how this all stated.

The book is hilarious! A definite MUST READ! I couldn't stop laughing.
I did click that I liked the book. However, three quarters into the book her adventure
got tiresome to me. There were some giggles. The ending was a shock to me, it was just
cut off. So I am thinking that Janet Evanovich just ran out of what to write and how
to end the story. I liked the previous books but this one was a disappointment to me.

This is a hilarious series of funny storied books.
Unfortunately Janet doesn't know how to turn on the heat for the romantic side of her stories.
I read one book and then had to find them all.

awesome! What a fun read before bedtime!
Hard Eight is one of my favorites out of the series so far. The stories are getting more intense, and the relationships between the characters are more complex. Janet Evanovich is a great author. She definitely leaves you wanting more.
Another awesome book by Evanovich - I'm getting closer and closer to #12!! Can't wait! :)
light comedy, easy read
Love these characters. They play off each other so well. Stephanie is such an everyday woman on so many things. Other than blowing up cars, and finding dead bodies that is.....
It is fun to continue with the adventures of Stephanie Plum.
Another great "Plum" book! I am hooked and you will be too if you read these books!
Read this entire series! They are hilarious, suspenseful and a bit of a guilty indulgence.
Another great Stephanie Plum novel...with the addition of new characters.
Quote possibly my favorite Stephanie Plum book, and mainly because of the between the sheets action!
If you don't know Stephanie Plum already and you like a quick/easy mystery with smart-mouthed humor and a little romance, this is just the ticket.
Not reading these in any particular order but that really doesn't seem to impact the story or main characters. It is a fun fluffy kind of book. Something that is easy to pick up at anytime and read. The characters are funny, witty and often predictable but you still turn the page. Interesting story, keeps you working the angles and fun to find out the ending.
A great, fun read in the Stephanie Plum series.
This series is a can't miss. This is just another installment that is a fast paced thrill ride. Can't wait until the next one.
As always, Janet Evanovich writes a funny, laugh out loud, novel. Since my mom's family is from Trenton, I can relate to some of the places in the book. In fact, Grandma Mazur reminds me of one of my mom's aunt - always ready for fun with a smart mouth!
Great summer read If you like lots of action, laughs and a little sex thrown in!
Another good read in the Plum series.
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum always gets her man -- dead or alive.
Really enjoyed this one.
Evanovich never disappoints. Ranger & Stephanie heat up! Loved it.
Another funny Plum novel.
I love the Janet books!!
good as always
From Publishers Weekly
The menace is more personal for Trenton's favorite bounty hunter and the energy more manic in this latest outing than in last year's Seven Up. As a favor to her mother's next-door neighbor, Mabel Markowitz, Stephanie agrees to check up on the lady's granddaughter, Evelyn Soder, who has suddenly taken off with her little girl, Annie, leaving behind a child custody bond against Mabel's house. The son-in-law is a bad guy who lost his bar to Eddie Abruzzi, a very nasty character who owns Evelyn's building. Soon someone in a bunny suit is trailing Stephanie, her car is blown up, her apartment infiltrated and a dead body appears on her couch. She calls in her associate, Ranger, the gorgeous and mysterious Cuban bond agent, while her sometime boyfriend, Morelli the cop, also gets on the case--a real doozy for which she's not getting paid. On the home front, ever-raunchy Grandma Mazur is eager to assist. Sister Valerie and kids have moved back in as well, so there's nowhere but the couch for Stephanie and one bathroom for all. Valerie is inexplicably attracted to Evelyn's goofy lawyer, who's been tagging along with Stephanie and the ever-outrageous file clerk and ex-hooker Lula, further complicating this twisted case. Life in the Burg takes on a sinister turn with serious results. Evanovich does it again, delivering an even more suspenseful and more outrageous turn with the unstoppable Stephanie, heroine of all those who have to live on peanut butter until the next check comes through. Waiting for nine will be tough.

Stephanie Plum lives not far from her parents in a Trenton, New Jersey, neighborhood called the Burg. Things haven't changed much there since the '50s, despite cell phones and computers and the fact that Stephanie works as a bounty hunter. Stephanie still eats her mom's macaroni and cheese for comfort, and Mom's is where her sister Valerie went when her marriage blew up. It's a little darker for our heroine now. She's kind of broken up with Morelli, the gorgeous cop; she's still wary of Ranger, her guide in bounty hunting, who is composed of equal parts magic and darkness; and an eerie, scary bad guy named Abruzzi is putting snakes in her apartment and spiders in her car, when his minions aren't blowing it up. Steph is trying to find the missing daughter and granddaughter of her mom's next-door neighbor, and Abruzzi doesn't like that. The things Evanovich does so well--family angst, sweet eroticism, stealth shopping, that stunning mix of terror and hilarity--are done better than ever here. This one not only allows Steph some inchoate but graceful complexity but also gives splendid cameos to both her mom and Valerie (the moving automobile as weapon has rarely been employed more outrageously--twice). And Grandma Mazurin the doughnut shop parking lot--well, you won't believe it.

A fun read. Stephanie Plum, fugitive apprehension expert from Jersey strikes again. Comedy and crime in a winning combination.
Another good Plum mystery. This time she is being chased by a rabbit and a bear! Pretty wind and good story!
Funny book...keeps the ongoing story moving right along.
8th book in the Stephanie Plum series - another awesome hillarious mystery - if you know Stephanie Plum, you know what to expect - the unexpeted!!!
Evanovich is definitely losing her touch with these books. I feel like she's just pounding them out now, with little inspiration.
Another fun Evanovich book. She's still in great form.
This was one of the funniest yet. It had me laughing out loud!
A must read for Stephanie Plum Fans!

Fun to read - lots of laughs!
Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum has a big problem on her hands:7 year old Annie Soder and her mother, Evelyn, has disappeared. Evelyn's estranged husband, Steven, a shady owner of a seedy bar, is not at all happy. During the divorce proceedings, he and Evelyn signed a child custody bond, and Steven is demanding the money guaranteed by the bond to find Annie. The money was secured by a mortgage on Evelyn's grandmother's house, and the True Blue Bonds Bail Agency wants to take possession of the house. Finding a kidnaped child is not an assignment for a bbounty hunter. But Evelyn's grandmother lives next door to Stephanie's parents, and Stephanie's mother and grandmother are not about to see their neighbor lose her house because of the abduction. Even though Stephanie's plate is full with miscreants who missed their court dates, including old nemesis and violent drunk Andy Bender and an elusive little old lady accused of grand theft auto, she can't disappoint Grandma Mazurl! So she follows the trail left by Annie and Evelyn-and finds a lot more than she bargained for. Steven is somehow linked with a very scary Eddie Abruzzi. Trenton cop and on-again, off-again fiance Joe Morelli and Stephanie's mentor and tormentor, Ranger, warn Stephanie about Abruzzi, but it's Abruzzi's eyes and mannerisms that frighten Stephanie the most. Stephanie needs Ranger's savvy and expertise, and she's willing to accept his help to find Annie even though it might mean getting too involved with Ranger...
Excellent as always...
Enjoyable book. This was a great book in a wonderful series.
Evanovich at her best
stephanie is looking for 7 year old annie soder and her mother whose husbansd is the owner of a seedy bar.
Eye candy on the gritty side. Good way to spend an evening.
If you know Janet Evanovich & Stephanie Plum, there isn't anything for me to add here! If you don't know Stephanie & stumbled across this posting by accident, this is the 8th in the series & you *must* start with the 1st one - One for the Money.

I'm really enjoying this series.. all in fun not to heavy and this one did NOT dissapoint. No spoilers here but... if you've read up til seven, you can't NOT read number eight! =) Off to start "To The Nines".... ;-)

Oh my. Ranger collects his debt. MMMM, MMMM, MMMM. But she's having such a difficult time capturing her FTA and then there's that crazy rabbit stalking her...what's up with that?
Finally Joe and Ranger get me! This is another great Stephanie Plum novel!
If you missed it don't give up the chance to catch up with this intriguing chapter from Stephanie's life. Evanovich at her best.
Stephanie helps her mother's neighbor find her missing granddaughter. She has the help of Ranger, Lulu and of course Morelli. Very good book
Wonderfully funny Evanovich --- as always!
Great read! Must read the whole series, they keep you laughing and with your nose deep in the book trying to figure out the ending
One of the best book "series" ever!

A FUN READ!
Good story.
I love all of Evanovich's books. Funny and smart book.
Stephanie never fails to please!
PRETTY GOOD ALTHOUGH SHE'S NOT MY FAVORITE AUTHOR.
Another fun read! The Stephanie PLum Series always brings a smile to my face, laughter to my lips, and spice to the imagination. Every girl hould be so lucky as to have Ranger & Moreli in her life.
GREAT.. I loved all the stephanie plum books ! very fuuny nice characters
I have read several books by this author, and I think this is one of the best ones.
Wonderful book.
Strap on your helmet and get ready for the ride of your life. Hard Eight , the world of Stephene Plum has never been wilder.
Excellent Evanovich novel! Very "Hard" to put down. :)
The best one yet...
#8 in the Stephanie Plum series. A lot of humor as usual.
This is a great book. I am hooked and need to read the whole series. Love Stephanie Plum character!
Stephanie and Joe have broken up and Ranger makes his move.
I love this author for she is very well written and very funny
Stephanie Plum once again jumps into a very hectic case - this time a 7year old and her mother have disappeared. Not to worry - Stephanie once again pulls off her own kind of magic.
another good one
This series is my favorite of this genre. Funny Jersey Girl!
More of Stephanie Plum's escapades... #8 of course
Finding a kidnapped child is not an assignment for a bounty hunter like Stephanie Plum. The search turns out to be a race among the Posse, True Blue Bond's agent, a Rangerette, the Abruzzi gang and a killer rabbit on the loose
Always makes me laugh.
Stephanie Plum is my all time favorite character!
Janet never disappoints. Stephanie's relationship with Ranger heats up, while Morrelli get moved to the back burner. Sister Valerie's life spirals out of control. And then there's Grandma. Every time she appears, I end up laughing so hard I nearly pee myself.
Holy Guacamole! Stephanie works her usual bounty hunter magic and is entertaining as ever! But we open with a custody bail bond and a missing grandchild of her neighbor! Stephanie has one heck of a time getting Bender! Vinnie even shows her how its done! It's so funny even Ranger is laughing! She gets her woman! Although she finds Ramerez's owner Abruzzi is insane and has claimed war against Stephanie throughout the book. The cliff hanger from last book is revealed. Steph get Val a job with Albert Kloughn, lawyer. Steph has a series of bad days. Morelli is distant. Ranger calls in his marker. Stange events unfold in finding the missing granddaughter, but after Steph finds her she lets them go to live a different life. Abruzzi declares war! Val is kidnapped, Stephanie gets burned and Morelli tells her he loves her! What next?
Great series of books!!
never a dull moment with her
Stephanie Plum picks up a case a little nastier than anything the wisecracking bounty hunter's seen before. Evelyn Soder and her young daughter have gone on the run, leaving an angry ex-husband who's planning to collect on a child custody bond that will leave Evelyn's grandmother homeless. Stephanie's first clue that there's more to it than that comes in the form of Eddie Abruzzi, a shady local businessman who warns her to butt out of the case. Stephanie doesn't scare easily, but when Abruzzi's henchmen leave a bag of snakes on her doorknob and tarantulas in her car, she has no choice but to call Ranger, the hunky man of mystery whom she already owes too many favors. Steph knows that Ranger will soon be calling in his marker, but with her ex- fiancé Joe Morelli out of the picture, that should be OK--shouldn't it? In the meantime, she's got other fugitives to catch, aided by the usual band of misfits, plus a bumbling correspondence-school lawyer who's developed the hots for Stephanie's sister, Valerie. And Steph's in for a surprise from her mother, who proves she's not above wielding a dangerous weapon to save her daughter's life.
Stephanie Plum is at it again. The attraction between her and Ranger finally boils over. Wow, steamy! Very well written and once again Janet Evanovich writes a compelling story.
enjoyed the book - lots of humor in good mystery story
Loved it
Stephanie Plum is a great adventuress. This entire series is great. I'm on #11 I think and I've enjoyed every one, including this one -- #8.

Its not a typical job for a bounty hunter, but since Evelyn's grandmother lives next door to Stephanie's mother, she follows the trial left by Annie and Evelyn---and finds a lot more than she bargained for.

THIS IS A QUICK READ. IMPLAUSIBLE PLOT ADDS TO THE FUN.
Funny, sexy, wild and scarey - a Stephanie Plum novel.
very good book. really enjoyed reading it.
