A well-written narrative told from three viewpoints. An excellent character as well as place study.
Set in post-colonial Malaysia, it's a very well written, engrossing tale .
I had a hard time getting through this book. I kept waiting for an exciting twist or turn and it never happened. Then the story just ended, with very little resolution.
Critics said "mesmerizing", "seductive" and "unputdownable". Slight overkill. Writing excellent. Story fails a little at the end.
