Elderly people trusted these "caregivers" to help them manage at home. What they got was abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Eye-opening for anyone bringing someone into their home to "help." Couldn't put it down.

This is a good book. One of those that you can hardly stop reading. I was shocked to about what modern day Gypsies are doing. FROM THE BACK COVER - They were a notorious Gypsy crime family that seeped into their victims' lives like a deadly cancer. And they couldn't be stopped - until one courageous woman took on the cases no one else would touch.
THE VICTIMS: Elderly, well-to-do men and women who, due to their failing health, strength, and faculties, could be conned out of their fortunes by heinous neglect, abuse, and possible even murder.

"Jack Olsen's prose style is supple and engaging, with funny dialogue and colorful characters worthy of an Elmore Leonard novel. His observations about people (especially women) are priceless, and his account of Gypsy crime and police negligence is balanced and thought-provoking. Hastened to the Grave is a true crime classic by a master at the top of his form." -Fiona Webster
This glowing review also reflects my criticism of the book: It reads like a novel, highlighting the female investigator as much as the crimes. It is a frustrating and chilling account of Gypsies victimizing the elderly.

Great story Jack Olsen is the best.

From the bestselling author of "Doc" and "Predator" comes a tale of seduction, betrayal, and cruelty. They were a notorious Gypsy crime family that seeped into their victims' lives like a deadly cancer. And they couldn't be stopped--until one courageous woman took on the cases no one else would touch. Not since Peter Maas's "King of the Gypsies" has the world of Gypsy crime been exposed in such detail and with more insight.
Exceptionally well written book about Gypsy families and some of the members who preyed on elderly victims.

Back cover says "With Eight Pages of Chilling Photos!", I looked at them, and I still feel distinctly warm.

Jack Olsen truly is the master of true crime. His books read like a novel. It is amazing how he can write so concisely yet hold the reader's attention throughout the whole book. The book exposes the crimes against the elderly by members of a Gypsy family; everything from conning them out of their money and property to neglect and murder.
