The Hatmakers Heart is a lovely little historical fiction if you are looking for some lite reading. Nell is a woman trying to make a name for herself as a designer of millinery. While her abilities with the needle and thread develop, she also struggles with a stammer, a stereotypical leach of an employer, and of course the questions of her own heart. Descriptions of 1920s New York and London are lovely, and details of the many hats and gowns bring them right into your arms. The story draws the reader in to champion Nell and her many questions. I found the writing to be good, the story interesting, the descriptions beautiful and am glad to have been given the opportunity to read this book from NetGalley. I could recommend this to a friend who has an interest in flapper and/or 1920s fashion and anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
