Great story about an Oregon family's driving obsession with their land, and how the land has bound them together through generations. As it turns out, the Nez Perce Indians still claim the land, and research by the landowner uncovers some astonishing details. A great read.
I read this for this month's "Animal" theme in my online book club The Reading Cove. The writing style was not my cuppa. I was bored with Iris's narration and her constant recollections of the past. It made the plot seem very slow-moving.
I made it 100 pages and decided I wasn't enjoying it enough to continue. I can't recommend it, but I'm glad to finally have it off my TBR pile, so that's good!

Can't believe there's anyone who didn't love this book.
"Tense" "emotionally violent", great depth of characters and subject, and a writing style that was beautiful!~I couldn't put it down.
