I really enjoyed this book, it has romance, suspense and just the right amount of paranormal mystery. The characters are fantastic and it is a great read. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the books in this series.
Helpful Score: 1
Interesting paranormal. Lots of Old South history from around the civil war.
From back cover:
Emerging from the bayou like an apparition, Donegal Plantation is known for its unsurpassed dining, captivating atmosphere, haunting legendsand now a corpse swinging from the marble angel that marks its cemeterys most majestic vault. A corpse discovered in nearly the same situation as that of Marshall Donegal, the patriarch killed in a skirmish just before the Civil War.
Desperate for help traditional criminologists could never provide, plantation heiress Ashley Donegal turns to an elite team of paranormal investigators who blend hard forensics with rare -- often inexplicable -- intuition. Among them is Jake Mallory, a gifted New Orleans musician with talent that stretches beyond the realm of the physical, and a few dark ghosts of his own.
The evil the team unveils has the power to shake the plantation to its very core. Jake and Ashley are forced to risk everything to unravel secrets that will not stay buried-- even in death

It was a good read. I liked the ghost. I felt for the characters. It kept me guessing who the killer was.
Heart of Evil is the second in Ms. Grahams Krewe of Hunters series and focuses on Jake Mallory and his past love Ashley Donegal. Ashley is the current owner of Donegal Plantation and has stumbled upon a murder scene. The scary part is that the victim is displayed much like her ancestor had been. Something is not right and the Krewe of Hunters are called in for advice. Ashley is hesitant at first because she knows Jake is part of this paranormal special investigative unit and is unprepared for facing him yet again.
Jake is now officially part of the special FBI unit and when he hears that Ashley is in trouble nothing will stop him from helping her. With the aid of the entire team they must solve who is after Ashley and why. As the team has learned that the dead are more than willing to help the living if they just listen. Someone close wants revenge and will stop at nothing to get it and if anyone gets in the way they will become alligator food.
Suspenseful with smatterings of paranormal elements makes Heart of Evil my favorite book of this series so far! I wasnt sold on the first book in this series and was unsure about how the second book would be. I was extremely happy with how it turned out and cant wait to read the next one!

Loving the correct historical information about New Orleans and Louisiana. I found the book fascinating and hard to put down.
