OK... I've stopped reading this book twice. The first time because I hadn't even read 50 pages. The second time because I was sick of having great action sequences suddenly overcome by "perky nipples" or his huge erection, or either of their silent waffling about the relationship they wanted/ had/ could have.
Basically all the characters are lacking in backbones, lie, and even the "bad guys" are portrayed as easily overcome. So why should I read the rest of the book to see how these sad people finally do get rid of the sad, beta red lupus garou?
Yeah, not happening.

This is the first book I've read by Terry Spear. I liked it and I will probably read more from this author. It took about the first 100 pages to get "into" the story. I liked the characters Devlyn and Bella were a good pair, their banter to each other was enjoyable. Their was even a little mystery to solve woven through the story. All in all a good first book.

I really couldn't get into this book. I hate how the heroine felt the hero to weak to fight for her throughout the entire book up until the ending. I started to skim just to finish.

I really wanted to like this book. I thought it was an interesting perspective to not have your typical "alpha" male as a love interest, but alas it was very poorly written.
There were just a lot of repeated information. Every other paragraph Spear is telling us that Devlyn can't have Bella because she was meant for his alpha, plus she wanted a human mate (even though she asked him to run away with him like a million times). Bella kept reminding us how if she got together with Devlyn, the alpha will kill him and besides he doesn't want her. When I said this was in every other paragraph, I'm not kidding. It literally is.
So it was a very tedious read but the premise was kind of cool. It wasn't enough to carry the book though and I did give up on it half way through.

I love shape shifter books and Heart of the Wolf didn't disappoint. It was fun and fast read with plenty of romance. It gave a good example of how a pack runs. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
