What an interesting life of Maya Angelou. Starting in the 1950's
in black America. Her story is filled with unforgettable characters with Maya front and center as one very unforgetable character. She met and worked with some very famous people along the way. It was the start of Maya's multi talented list of careers. The honest and sometimes very sad stories of the the ups and downs along the way with men breaking her heart.
She lead a busy life, starting one career after another, alone most of the time, bringing up her only son. I highly recomend this book.

In the 4th volume of her highly acclaimed autobiography, Maya Angelou continues one of the most remarkable - and inspiring - personal narratives of our age.

As The Heart of a Woman begins, her turbulent life breaks wide open with hoy as the singer-dancer enters the razzle-dazzle of fabulous NYC. There, at the Harlen Writers Guild, her love for writing blazes anew.

Excellent book - Great writer and woman.

Filled with unforgettable vignettes of famous characters, from Billie Holiday to Malcolm X, The Heart of a Woman sings with Maya Angelou's eloquent prose--her fondest dreams, her deepest disappointments, and her dramatically tender relationship with her rebellious teenage son. Vulnerable, humorous, tough, Maya speaks with an intimate awareness of the heart within us all.
