I am always disappointed when I get to the end of a Mary Balogh book because I know that whatever I read next just can't come close. This is no exception. I loved the characters, especially Luke. He's so over the top that you know HE knows how absurd he seems and that's part of his likability. It was nice to see the trust and need that developed between Luke and Anna. This book was really hard to come by but well worth the wait.
One of my favorites. Not really a typical romance couple.
Classic Mary Balogh -- and in Romance you cannot say any better than that!
I love Mary Balogh's books and I have read almost all of them, but this was far from a favorite. I had a problem liking Lucas, the main male character. His sojourn in Paris had him wearing the latest Paris fashions of the day upon his return to England. The fan, cosmetics, rouged cheeks and patches (?) and his affectation of even calling men "my dear" were a bit much. I didn't like him until well near the end of the book. I almost gave up and stopped reading it, but I didn't and, as always, the ending was happy!
Could not get into the book
