I read the first book in the Weather Warden series, "Ill Wind" and really enjoyed it. Heat Stroke was an excellent follow-up.

"Heat Stroke" pretty much takes up from where "Ill Wind" left off. From beginning to end it is action-packed and keeps you hooked. While the first book introduces you into the world of the Weather Wardens, this book focuses more on the world of the Djinn and the underlying tensions between them and the Wardens. This book also goes more into depth about Joanne and David's growing relationship and the consequences of the actions taken to protect that relationship in the first book.

The book ended in a big surprise change for Joanne and a cliffhanger as a whole for the series; while frustrating, it will definitely have you looking forward to book three in the series, "Chill Factor."

Not as strong as Ill Wind due to an overly-long action sequence at the end, Caine's imagination, vision, and twists on how weather works and genies in bottles make this a don't-miss.

Argh - I *really* loved Ill Wind and, while I enjoyed Heat Stroke and have every intention of continuing this series, I absolutely hate books that carry over major plot lines to the next book. Don't start reading this one until you have the next in your TBR pile. Other than that, great characters, solid plotting and writing. Would have been an easy 5 stars if it had fully resolved at the end.

The second book in the Weather Warden series. I can't really say much without giving spoilers from the last book, but there is more racing across country in this one, and there is something happening to the atmosphere that only djinn's can see and Joanne must warn the Wardens. An enjoyable read, I liked the pacing for most of the book though in the last 50 pages it somehow became too fast and harder to enjoy because of it. Although there is some resolution, there are also major story arcs that end in a "..." . You may want to have the 3rd book handy.

After attending her own funeral, Joanne Baldwin is ready to start her new life as a Djinn. The most powerful Djinn in the world says she has a week to master her new powers, or things will be bad for her and her lover, David. On top of that, a deadly entity has infiltrated the Earth's atmosphere that only a Djinn can sense.

This is the second book in Caine's Weather Warden series. I thought the pace of the first half of the book was slow. I really didn't get interested until someone wants to claim Joanne as a djinn. After that the story just took off and I had a hard time putting it down. There is a great plot twist in the last few pages, and then a cliff-hanger. I have to get my hands on the next book in the series. My rating: 4 Stars.
