I didn't like this book when I first started. Didn't like the characters, or the story, but, I tell you, about 60 pages in, I was hooked! Couldn't put it down, and loved the sweet ending.

Cute book! It dragged a little at the beginning, but ended up to be a good read. Very similar to her other books.

This book... where to start?!
Gracie & Bobby Tom (main characters) are idiots. She's a 30-something, naive virgin begging to be deflowered & is completely clueless about life in general. He's a 30-something washed-up football star who is nothing but a condescending, chauvinistic pig. He takes pity on Gracie by having pity sex & showing her the ropes. What a great guy - ugh. Throughout the course of the book he basically date rapes her, assaults a police officer, steals a squad car & then nearly assaults her. And he's the "prize" in all of this.

Neither of them are likable. There's no comedy or levity in this horrible book & the supporting characters aren't much better. Finishing this book was torturous & I'm kicking myself for believing it could & would get better. It has a decent rating on goodreads &
Amazon - something that truly baffles me. This was an awful read. If I see anything else from this author, I will probably throw up a bit in my mouth.

Yuck.

This is only my second book by her and I see a theme in this series. It's definitely an ugly duckling theme and the prince needs some fine tuning. But I still enjoyed it for the dialogue and the crazy antics of the characters. And what I love is when it's epiphany time for our heroes, the heroine of the book makes him work for it.

I really appreciate that Phillips takes unlikeable characters and make them likeable by the end.

Enjoyed it but if you are looking for a good plot you will be disappointed.

This is a fun and emotional read! It was predictable from the very beginning, but it was still a lot of fun to read. It was fun to read the emotional developments between the characters. I cried, I laughed, I couldn't put it down! I read it into the wee hours of the morning I couldn't put it down! This was my first book to read by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I'm looking forward to enjoying more of her books.
