This Puffin Classics version is unabridged and translated from the German by Eileen Hall.
Heidi is a true classic. I've never been interested in "warm touchy-feely" stories so this isn't one of my particular favorites. However, it is a good book and comes highly recommended to those who liked the movie and have always wanted to read the book.
Wonderful classic book.
Set in the splendor of the Swiss Alps, Heidi is the story of a young girl's adventures. Transplanted from the mountain home of her beloved grandfather to be educated in a large city, her life changed dramatically.
This heart-warming story is filled with wonderful situations laced with tears and laughter which finally lead to Heidi's return to the mountain she loves.

THIS IS AN UNILLUSTRATED BOOK, 248 PAGES. PERHAPS A CHILDRENS BOOK, BUT ONE FOR OLDER CHILDREN, PERHAPS 5TH OR 6TH GRADE READING LEVEL. IT COULD BE READ TO LITTLE CHILDREN.
This is a "Young Reader's Classic's" book.
A good book if your eyes can't read small print because it is big print book.
This is an easy read, as far as classics go. I enjoy going back to it every so often and rereading it. It is sort of a "comfort read" for me. It isn't too long, none of the descriptions are long-winded. Overall, the book is short and sweet. You absolutely fall in love with the main character, a sweet and fun little girl named Heidi. Also, for everyone who is like me in the belief that all books should have a happy ending, you won't be disappointed.
Wonderful for kids and family!
a lovely tale. this is an easy read version for younger readers.
The classic story of a little orphan girl in the Swiss Alps and her elderly grandfather. I loved this book as a girl!
Children's classic - with both color and black-and-white illustrations. Wonderful story, ageless.
Whenever I'm reading a classic that starts talking about what people used to eat, it never ceases to amaze me that our ancestors managed to survive at all. If it's not 'Wuthering Heights' talking about gruel and feeding children milk for supper, it's 'Heidi' making claims that all people ate for days at a time was cheese. Amazing.
Five year old Heidi goes to live with her grandfather in his lonely hut high in the alps. She quickly learns to love her new life with him. But her strict aunt decides that Heidi must be sent away again, to live in town. Heidi cannot bear being away from the mountains and is determined to return to the happiness of life with her grandfather.
Lovely illustrated book of the traditional story
Illustrated Classic Editions, "Heidi" is the story you grew up with and will never forget.
This is a version for younger readers. My six-year-old daughter had a hard time following the original version, but totally enjoyed this one. It was right on her level. I plan to read the original when she's older. It's a great story!
Sweet and wholesome book for young girls. A classic!
The classic children's story that the movies are based on. See how it started out.
A must read for every child
When Aunt Dede dragged Heidi up the mountain to live with her mean old grandfather in the Alps, the townspeople whispered and shook their heads. "How could Dede do that?"
Heidi loved her new life, however, and when Aunt Dede returned three years later to take her to live with a rich family in the city, she didn't want to go. But Dede insisted, and that's when the real adventure begins...
