This had potential, but I was so frustrated at Emilia's constant whining and running away from issues. She'd hide out in her room constantly to avoid seeing or talking to anyone, especially Devon. And God forbid should they sit down and just try to talk or hear one anothers side of things. Or God forbid, work things out.
This was my first read from Maya Rodale. I wanted to lay it down... several times, and call it quits. It was that much of a letdown. The ending salvaged some things but there was still to much left undone between Phillip, Devon, and Emilia. For me, this was a very disappointing read.

I wondered how this was going to work without making Emilia look like an idiot. I enjoyed the big "reveal." One thing I found unnecessary; the end. *That* had to happen, really? Being the Spare worked and that didn't need to change (IMO).

This was my first read from this author and it did not disappoint. I loved the twist at the end. I found myself caring about all the characters even the brother. I went searching for and found her other books, including the book about the brother. This is good new talent who has me looking forward to her next book.
