While this wasn't a bad book, it wasn't great either. The writing was done well and the characters were enjoyable. There were some great body horror scenes and it could be crazy brutal at times. My biggest issue with the book was there was very little backstory. We have this wild, post-apocalyptic world but it is really not fully fleshed out on how it got there. I wasn't even sure why half of what was going on happened. It left me somewhat confused and made it hard for me to fully get into the story because I was constantly questioning things. In the end, my questions never got answered.
