There are 1200 pages in this book, and after 170 of them I decided there are better things to do with my life. I thought Tom Clancy was into mindless, boring detail. But where he only goes into minute descriptions for several pages at a time, the authors of this book use entire chapters. Based on just this book, I decided that Weber and Evans need a life.

And I am not alone, read the reviews on Amazon. I thought I was being too harsh in my initial reaction to the writing in Hell's Gate, so I went over there to see what others thought.

Then I found out that there is a sequel, as this is a series. And apparently this series stopped as the second was written in 2008 with nothing since then.

I probably won't post this, as it would cost a fortune to mail. Not many mass market paperbacks (Thank God) are two inches thick!

Try as I might, I cannot get into this book. It simply moves about too much. Just as soon as I become involved in a character or characters' storyline, it changes, and it is simply ages before that particular character comes back around. And when they do, it's like starting all over again. Too bad, I am a real fan of David Weber.
