During this past year my family was turned into Child Protective Services.  While the charges were found to be unsubstantiated (bogus) during the case period were were assigned to a non-profit social service org., called Family Preservation.  They loaned us a book which made dealing with my teens Behavioral Disorders, and Personality Disorders so much better.  The problem is this book is no longer in print for distribution.

Long after our case ws closed this organization has continued to stop by and check on us.  Our family would like to help them by supplying as many copies of the book to them as we can as it has been a very valuable tool, and they are many times forcred to photocopy pages for clients to use.

I have found the book listed here, and know that there are 6 copies available at this time but can't afford to arder all six (or even one right now:( ) If any one is interested in helping this Org by sending them a copy or any other idea you have please PM me.

The book is called "Stop Struggling with your Teen" by Evonne Weinhaus and Karen Friedman.  ISBN 0-14-010604-9 and is published by Penguin books.  Unpostable copies would also be of help.  We have scoured bookstores for over 100 miles from this small town and found one, so finding six in the same spot is a true treasure.  The book is simple and works well with troubled teens as well as families who keep visiting the same "issues"

One of our wonderful members has donated 5 credits to send the books to Family Preservation Project!  Our many thanks to her, for I know how powerful a tool this can be for struggling families.  We would still appreciate an unpostable copies if they are around as this book won't be available for distribution again according to the publisher.

FPP director, Jim is "jumping for Joy" and said we hit a gold mine!!!  More precious to me, I have a new buddy! :)  Then again I'm not the one who has to help all these families, so I guess the new buddy is an added Bonus to what God already blessed us with.

The system only allows you to order one copy at a time, but a few of my buddies are ordering the books that are available and having them sent to Jim.  Thanks to everyone for all their help. 

Please keep your eyse open for this book when you are out and about, I will gladly take any copies you find.  I may have to have you hold it till payday, but I will definately take any copy you can find.  We are in a rural area and have limited resources; any and all help is greatly appreciated.

This organization has helped to keep many families together when CPS would have removed the children from the home.  I believe that a family who wants to stay together and work through their problems and issues should be given every chance to do just that.  I do understand that this is not always possible and not always in the best interest of the children, but I also support this organization and all that they do to "Preserve the Family".  They provide intense counseling, as often as needed; on call 24/7 support, Parent aides, Parenting classes, and a true unbiased and non-judgemental support systym.  It is truly worth supporting.  There is so much more that they do that I would take up pages, so we will leave it at that.
