I remember reading a historical romance that took place when a woman was assigned to a penal colony in Australia. I can't remember the author's name, nut her last name may have been Coulter. If anyone can recall the title and/or the author, I'd appreciate the help.

Bold Land, Bold Love by Connie Mason?

Not a book, but a movie, or a television show.  A girl 16 or 17 ask friends in her High School class about going to a dance, she asks is it formal and friend says we are going in formal, which she took as informal and shows up in sweater and skirt.  Ring any bells perhaps from 1950.  For some reason this show had an impact on me.
