I really enjoyed this one although the title of "Hero" doesn't really seem to fit the storyline. If this is your first Carr book, put it down. Read a few of the other books first because Carr does a lot of updates on the older characters. It's part of what I like so much about her books. It's not solely based on the two main characters.
I loved the slow transformation of Devon from uncertain and frighten to a woman of confidence. And yes, the do gooder towns people do get a little corny but it is very sweet and idyllic. Even the kids don't ever do anything wrong.
There was a bit of action and fear to keep the overall plot interesting. I'm a sucker for cult storylines so perhaps my rating for this book is higher than it should be.
Overall fun, intriguing, easy read.

The next in the Thunder Point series from Robyn Carr. With the addition of Spencer to town, this book mostly revolves around his adjustment to the small town and a new character addition by the name of Devon. Devon has stumbled upon Thunder Point by escaping a religious compound and has fear that she still isn't really safe.
I love reading about books with characters that are involved in extreme "religions." Maybe it is the religious studies major in me, but I just love reading about the psychological effects this situation can have on someone. The added addition of fear for Devon's daughter who is a child of the religious leader created some great mystery in the book. I also loved the updates on the other couples in town who were featured in previous books. It was a perfect balance of update and new storyline!

Devon escapes, on foot, the religious commune where she has been living for the past couple of years with her young daughter, Mercy. With very little money and food she has no real idea where she is headed and she finds an unlikely hero in the curmudgeonly Rawley from previous Thunder Point books. He picks the two up and takes them back to Thunder Point and under the guise of them being his long lost relatives he helps Devon get on her feet.

I love the generosity and sense of community she creates with the way they all look out for one another and lend a hand - even to strangers. However, in this book that do-gooder attitude turned corny and cheesy one too many times for me.
The other turn off for me was the ending. Everything comes to a head in the last 60 pagesBoth Devons past and present implode and the resolution was unbelievable and, frankly, ridiculous. I read fiction because I like living in the land of make believe, but this ending had me rolling my eyes at the absurdity.
It may sound like I hated it, but truly, I didnt. I really liked Spencer and Devon and their kids. I liked all the updates and side stories going on with the characters I have come to know and love in the previous books. She kept me entertained and has me looking forward to the next story and wondering who it is going to star. No, this wasnt my favorite book by her, but it was still well worth the read.

I thought this book was the best of the Thunder Point series. I am still unsure who "THE HERO" really was. It could of been Devon as she was so strong and survived such sadness. Or, it could of been Rawley who has a heart of gold and helps all!! The hero was NOT Spencer as his character seemed stuffy..
This book is a good read with a lot of very different characters who come alive with each chapter. Hopefully, we will have a #4 soon.

Book 3 in the new series by Robyn Carr; very unlike her Virgin River series, but very good just the same. Much more realistic portrayals of life and complicated relationships. Lots of vivid scenery descriptions. Some suspense and of course, the usual love story thrown in to boot! Highly recommend this series.
Loved it and am eager for more in the series to be published! Ranks right up there with Grace Valley & Virgin River Series. Keep them coming, Robyn.
This is the final book of the Thunder Point series that I am reading. I don't think I went in order, but this book introduces Laine, the FBI agent,and the first book of the series I read was her story. This book, like the rest, all take place in a small seaside town where all the neighbors are involved in the story once again. I have grown to love all the characters ,and I am sad to have finished my last book. This one features Devon and Rawley who saves her from a cult like home, and also goes on to get more involved with Spencer, and Cooper-all characters from the previous stories.
Good read, you do learn more about the town people.
Great story.
