Tens of millions of men, women and children were killed during WWII, most simply because of who they were -- ethnic, religious and sexual minorities, the disabled, the elderly. Each of their stories is unique, and unfortunately, we'll never know the vast majority of those stories. There were also rescuers and those who opposed the evil and helped the victims. Those stories, too, are unique and precious -- and we don't know nearly enough of them. This anthology collects short narratives of several teenagers who helped.

This was an interesting group of Holocaust survivor stories based on the experiences of teenagers during WWII. All of the stories are somehow related to either the teenager or someone in their family receiving the award for being Righteous among the Nations from the State of Israel. Each story was set in a different country: France, Belgium, Poland and Denmark and there was a good mix of different types of rescues. I learned some aspects of the Holocaust that I had not known before. I would recommend this book to young teens and to adults that are interested in knowing more about that sad time in history.
