Sadly, this was my least favorite Virgin River book. The writing was so jagged and rough it was hard to keep track of transitions. There were so many transitions that I just had to laugh at. They were absurd. The hero says something like "let's go be romantic" to the heroine, and the heroine says, "Let's have fruit and waffles for breakfast tomorrow." Seriously?
I wasn't really fond of the hero either. He came off as rude and angry in the first chapter, then as kind of a big lug dumb construction worker for the 1st half of the book. He does get a little better as time goes on, but he never really proved himself as this great hero.
I'm just really, really hoping that the next 2 new Virgin River books are good!

A perfect piece of women's fiction, filled with mystery, intrigue and of course some romance. A story that bounces back and forth between a man and a woman who find themselves in a small town both escaping past loves and him maybe a little more. He is hiding from a crazy mobster that would definitely want him gone as he is a sole witness to a murder that could nail this mobster down.
I loved watching their romance slowly grow through the awkward first meeting to, well I just can't share or it would ruin your reading! Especially since I recommend this one to fans of the romance genre. There isn't so much push and pull as in some romances which tends to make the story a little unbelievable and may even drag the story down - not so in this book. You are hooked from page one until the end.
One warning to those who may pick up this one, if you are faint of heart when it comes to sexy times in a book - this one had a few scenes that bordered on racy, but nothing beyond what you may find on your daily soap opera.

I love virgin river but this book was just too long,drawn out and well...boring. I skimmed through the 2nd half. I was so tired of hearing about leslie's failed marriage that I think I actually groaned out loud every time she mentioned it or compared her present life to her old one. And Greg ...2 words, restraining order! And last but not least Conner isnt his nephew's father, I wish someone would tell him.
I'm a big Robyn Carr fan and enjoyed this book. Not one of her very best but good. Great introduction of new characters for future books.
GREAT book as usual. I really haven't read one of Robyn Carr books yet I didn't like. this series can keep on going plan to read them all
I love the books in this series I feel like I know the characters personally.
Loved it! If you are a fan of Robyn Carr's Virgin River series then this is business as usual. It's a slice of the small town we all love with it's new and old couples, Jack's Bar and the care and love the inhabitants continuosly show each other. If you are new to the series then I envy you in that you'll have 16 other stories to enjoy while the rest of us wait for the next installment!
I had a hard time nailing down Connor at first but after a while he grew on me. He was pretty bitter in the beginning but it made sense since he had lost everything and was separated from his love ones.
I love Leslie and her fire extinguisher. That's really all that needs to be said.

With the help of Brie Valenzuela, he has a new identity and a new job. He just has to keep a low profile. That is easier said than done when he meets Leslie Petruso. Leslie is newly divorced and starting over in Virgin River. Even though Brie told Connor not to get involved with the locals, Connor falls hard for Leslie. With the whole town rooting for the romance, it's hard to keep a low profile.
This is book number 17 in the Virgin River series. It's a cute contemporary romance and certainly kept my interest. I loved Leslie and her fire extinguisher. I also like how Connor came to love the small town. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

I love Robyn Carrs novels. She writes such wonderfully witty romances with completely realistic characters that I wish Virgin River were a real place.
Here, the heroine is divorcee Leslie Petrusco, who has left Grants Pass to avoid constantly running into her narcissistic ex-husband and his newly pregnant wife. The divorce was hard enough on her, but the pregnancy hits Leslie like a gut punch: her ex told her that he didnt want kids with her. However, hes decided that he wants to be friends. Leslie has other ideas and when an old friend, Paul Haggerty, offers her a job working in Virgin River for Haggerty Construction, she jumps at the chance and becomes the office manager.
Danson Connor (who is now known as Connor Danson) has also escaped a bad marriage to a sex addict, but also has more problems: hes the only witness to a murder in Sacramento and his hardware business was burned to the ground in an effort to silence him. He arrives in Virgin River and also begins working for Haggerty Construction.
Connor and Leslie meet and theres definitely some chemistry between them but a misunderstanding leaves them at odds with each other.
Neither Leslie nor Connor seem to want a relationship, but their friendship catches fire. In one of the loveliest scenes, Connor brings Leslie flowers: that is, he brings perennials and flowers to plant around her rental house. Connors devotion to his sister (a widow) and her two boys, who all live in Vermont, is also nice to see. Carrs characters are never one-dimensional. Katie, Connors sister, is the main character of Redwood Bend, the next novel in the series. Her romance is hinted at in this book.

Leslies ex is goofy and self-centered, and his new wife, Alison, is appropriately rude and obnoxious. Connor and Leslie - two unforgettable characters who are the stars of this next installment in the Virgin River series. Both have had misfortune and both are not looking for love, but fall in love they do. Excellent book.
