I really enjoyed this book! Elaine Viets is one of my favorite authors. The heroine, Josie Marcus, a single mother, has to solve a murder mystery regarding a slain shoe salesman. She also has to deal with her mother comparing her to "the perfect Cheryl" next door who in an ironic twist becomes a suspect in the investigation. If she clears Cheryl, Cheryl's mother, Mrs. Mueller, will make sure that Josie's mother, Jane, will become Maplewood chair of the St. Louis Flower Guild. Jane desperately wants to become the Maplewood chair of the St. Louis Flower Guild. Is Cheryl guilty? Or is it someone else? Read the book and find out.

In this second book of the series, Josie Marcus, mystery shopper, finds herself trying to clear her neighbor's daughter of a murder. Josie dislikes both Mrs. Mueller and her "perfect" daughter Cheryl, but to please her mother (and help her mother obtain coveted committee chair positions), Josie wades into investigation. Who knew that shoes could be decadent! Josie's love life also picks up much to her delight.
This was a quick read, but enjoyable.

This is the second book in the Mystery Shopper series and the second book I've read by Elaine Viets. I loved the first book so much I had to read the second, now I can't wait to get my hands on the third. I like that the story line is fast paced and holds your attention. The book is funny, romantic, suspenseful and just plain fun.

I love this author's other series, but had never read any of this series. It was great! Really interesting plot that is not something I've read before. I would totally recommend it. I have gotten the next two in the series and am anxious to read them.

Josie Marcus, single mom, and secret shopper, is sent to check out a complaint on a shoe store employee who women say is spending too much time - holding their feet. She finds the gentleman in a compromising position - with a shoe. He loses his job and then his life. Josie is asked to investigate by her nosy neighbor who has always hated Josie, because the neighbor's perfect daughter is suspected of the murder. This one involves housewives, Mel the sleezy shoe salesman who lives in a mansion, the nosy neighbor, and lots and lots of shoes. Oh, and Josh the sexy barrista.
