I checked this out on a whim as I heard the authors being interviewed on NPR on my drive to the library. I like the big ideas they raise (abolish tenure, sabbaticals, & competitive athletics, send every American to college) but I was irritated by the argumentative tone in their writing. The sounded much more reasonable on the radio! I'm not connected to an academic community to know how much of a stir this created. Interesting to think about, but I don't see any of their proposals happening any time soon.
