After the death of her husband and the loss of Castle Ardgleann, Keira Murray MacKail flees to the safety of the monastery, where her cousin Matthew is a brother caring for a severely wounded Liam Cameron. With her skills in healing, Keira takes over Liam's care. Once recovered, Liam agrees to be Keira's champion and reclaim Ardgleann.

Keira allows Liam to escort her to his home. As soon as their families learn they have spent several weeks together unchaperoned, Keira and Liam are forced to wed. It's on their wedding night that Liam discovers Keira, though a widow, is still a virgin. After they rid Ardgleann of the interlopers, Keira fears Liam does not love her. Can he convince Keira that his love is true?
