I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I am partial to Scottish historicals but I wasn't expecting to love Highland Warrior. I did love it. Jamie was an outstanding hero: tough, proud, loyal, fierce, determined... and yet caring and vulnerable where his love was concerned. Caitrina was too wishy-washy for my liking. Time and again her faith in her husband was tested and she made poor choices, but McCarty did a great job showing Caitrina's side and why she chose to do the things she did. I may not have agreed with her, but I could understand why she felt the way she did.
Overall I think this is a great book. I was swept up into the story and the setting, and I love a romance that makes you fall in love with the hero over and over again. Highly recommend this one!

I enjoyed this book mostly for the setting and the male lead - Jamie Campbell, a strong, take no prisoners warrior who knew what he wanted and went after it. He wasn't heartless though and went above and beyond to secure the heart of the woman he loved - Caitrina Lamont. However the only thing keeping this book from a 5 star review is the heroine Caitrina. She starts out spoiled and cosseted and even though she overcomes that with the death of her family - she reverts back to it later on in the book when push comes to shove and her husband needs and expects her loyalty. Otherwise a great book and I highly anticipate the next in this trilogy.

Jamie Campbell sounds gorgeous, very many and oh so seductive. Poor wee lass, Caitrina Lamont doesn't stand a chance against his charms. Hated enemy or not! What a great dilemma she has in front of her...Jamie or her clan. Hummm I know who I'd choose. LOL
A great and terrible feud exists between the Campbell's and Lamont's. Caitrinia is a strong female loyal to her family and loathe to be exiled - like her Campbell mother - because of her attraction to Jamie. She fights this attraction as long as she can and then...disaster strikes and Jamie may be her only ally.
A spectacular start to the Campbell trilogy followed by Highland Outlaw. Monica McCarty writes the best tales of Scotland and of rugged Highlanders. Her descriptions are so real you can smell the sweat of the men and the heather of the highlands
