As a mother of a highly sensitive baby & now a still-sensitive toddler, this book was SO helpful to me. It goes into great detail about personality types in young children & how understanding your child and NOT trying to change her is SO important. Also it made me relax about her seeming "too sensitive" to other people & taught me how to react when negative comments came our way. Also makes a big deal about building self esteem & not labeling our children as "shy"...I loved this book. I think I developed good habits early on that have stuck with me these 2 years.

There are children like this despite the many we see that are anything but sensitive. I have a couple of grandchildren that are not extremely sensitive but they do get hurt easily. You probably know if you have one of these living with you. These children fall apart at the littlest slight.

I have used this book for several years (thus a few note marks)to help guide me in parenting a sensitive child. It has plenty of practical tips as well as emotional support for the struggling parent / child who is sensitive. Excellent book! Also has tips specifically for teachers in the back.
