"Hiking Through: One Man's Journey of Peace and Freedom on the Appalachian Trail" is the autobiographical account of one man's journey thru-hiking the 2176 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Paul Stutsman shares in direct, rugged style how he struggled with his beliefs and his purpose in life following his wife's death of cancer; and how he rediscovered them and much, much more. Leaving his stable job of nearly 30 years, with little previous experience and a novice's passion, Stutsman sets out not only to challenge himself to hike the entire AT South to North but to challenge God - to show up and explain himself, and God does.
Simply written, in storytelling semi-diary style, "Hiking Through" leaves the reader with a feel
of the day-to-day hiking the AT sharing many thought provoking, personal struggles and corresponding serendipitous moments, poignant reminders of God's love and mercy. [4.5/5]

I enjoyed this book. You really felt like you were out on the trail with him. Since this is something I could never do, I feel like I came as close with his descriptions, not only physical but also emotional.
